Leo Fletcher, Computer Recommendation Present were Leo Fletcher, Joan Cutillo, Bob Conley and Roger Dotson to go over Mr. Fletcher's recommendation on the computer for the Town Hall Depts. Town Manager read a memo to the Board on the computer. It was recommended that the Town go out to bid on a stand alone system, bidder required to demonstrate proven programs on the computer and computer should have ability to develop programs. The estimated cost is around $25,000 year over a 5 year period. The Police & Fire Depts. would not be included on this new computer. There was some concern about tying up the computer, but this should have the ability to let everyone use it without going into two shifts. The two computers would be used at the same time, so there should not be a problem. Four station terminals will be included also with a printer. The $25,000 includes hardware and software. There was a question on main- tenance contracts and if they were included in the specs. Selectman Mahana was opposed to having a committee to study the computer needs. To purchase the computer, would require a town meeting vote. The contract could always be cancelled if the article did not pass.
