J. McNair; Town Manager C. Maurer
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
Atty Eugene Boyle representing Tartaglia's Lounge
Mr. Boyle stated that, following a meeting with Mr. Tartaglia and his accountant,
Mr. Tartaglia has applied for a new alcoholic beverage license and will surrender
the present license simultaneous with the granting of a new license. Chairman
May questioned whether problems with the Dept, of Revenue had been resolved.
Mr. Boyle indicated that he had been in contact on this. Selectman Mahana
questioned whether Mr. O'Donnell had rights in this license and requested that
Town Counsel check the legality of the change. Mr. O'Donnell will be notified
by Mr. Boyle.

School Committee (Selectman Levine left room prior to this discussion)
Supt. R.V. Barbarisi, J. Collella, V. Guerrini of the School Committee and
R. Dotson of the Finance Committee appeared before the Board. Selectman
Mahana read a'letter from the School Committee dated February 3rd in which
the School Committee requests that the Town Election include referenda to
exempt new debt as well as a 2-10 override. Mr. Dotson stated that the Finance
Committee's informal concensus was to go with the override on new debt only,
as they are concerned with the possible $141,000 surplus which might then be
spent at Town Meeting. Supt. argued that the voters should be given the option
to approve the 22 override, as he does not foresee any change in the proposed
School budget of $6,650,000. The Board prefers to exempt new debt only. A
final decision is delayed until later in the meeting.
