The Chairman teported on a meeting on December 6, 1968 with two gentlemen from
the State Department of Public Works, Ralph Hendriskso and J. Ireto, of the
bridge section of D.P.W. He advised that they went out Mill Street and checked

The Chairman read a letter from Harry S. Cook, Chairman of the Board of Appeals
regarding certain statements made at a Selectmen's Meeting held on December 4,
1968 concerning a decision by the Board of Appeals with regard to the application
of W.H. Riley & Son, Inc, to continue the use of an existing gravel pit located
off Plain Street. The letter stated the procedure followed, and that the Court
order did not require that a plan be approved by the Planning Board, although
a plan signed by the Planning Board was mentioned in the decision, and since
found to be a plan for the Marsella and Germaine pit which abuts the Riley pit,
Although this reference was in error, it does not in any way affect the decision
or indicate "gross incompetence" on the part of the Board of Appeals. The letter
also stated that the date of the plan mentioned was wrong because of the character
of the numerals on the plan which were taken to be June 12 instead of August 12,
1968.
