which was added to the Salary Account, making a total. of $111,262, as of Novem..
her 25, $103,905,87 has been spent in that salary account, and for the balance
of the year, 5 weeks, it would be $1.2,134,65 plus $103,905,87 which would
make a total. of $116,140,52, Re. stated that he had r.ecei.ved from Cy several
sheets with back pay doing back to August 28 and 29, $5,227.90 back pay not
paid for, plus bills to be paid. Advised that the department will need a
transfer of $10,156.00,
Cy advised that there was less money anpropriated in 1.969 than was spent in
1968, and that you can not come out even on a payroll with not enough money
to pay for it, also there was a lot of overtime for snowstorms, extra work
on the dump fires, $900, for the railroad fires, pumping out cellars, and
a large increase in sick leave pay, The Chairman of the Finance Committee
advised that there was $10,997, in the Reserve Fund, and at the present time
the Committee had requests for transfers for $7,300,00. He advised the Chief
that lie had been overspending since last August, and Cy advised that no one
told him to put in for a transfer, Mr. Carey strongly advised him that the
oroner way to do was to request a transfer for the money before the debt is
incurred. With regard to overtime, al-1 agreed that the Board did authorize
overtime for Dick Bellavance to make up the payroll overtime records back to
January 1., The Chief agreed that it was apparently a misunderstanding on
his part about putting in for,a transfer previous to this time.
After a, lengthyd4s6ussion. Frank Ridley, Cleric of the Finance Committee suggest-
ed that a transfer. of $700, be made for the Salary Account for the permanent
men, with no overtime, The Finance Committee wi.l.l. cover the other absolutely
necessary transfers, etc, which will leave about $4,000, to $5,000, in the
Reserve. Should keep this in the Reserve Fund, but will gladly take what is
left, and nut it in the Fire Department account, It will be necessary to ask
for money at the annual Town Meeting to cover the rest of the overtime. The
suggestions made were agreeable to those present,
