guy wire has been removed. He advised that he would like guidance of what the
Board wishes to do about the trees that are on private property. This tree
is completely dead, and is a hazard, and he asked the Board to set a policy
regarding the removal of dead trees on private property. After a discussion,

The Town will remove any and all trees that are considered dangerous to
foot and automobile traffic, and that are dangerous to high voltage power lines,
The Town Manager is the sole judge of this tree removal program. If the

The Town Manager advised the Board that he had figured the sewer assessments
for the Hillside Terrace sewer project. The total front sewerage is 5,204
lineal feet at a cost per foot of $11,44. The property owner's share would
be $5.72 per foot. The matter was tabled after discussion until the Town
Manager checks the final figures and they are put on the sewer assessment
maps.
Ronald Buck and a group of about a dozen people came before the Board regard-
ing the Stearns Avenue property being used as a dump site, Mr. Buck presented
the Chairman with a petition with 247 names, some residents of Easton, stating
their objections to the use of the land on Stearns Avenue as a dumping area,
the highest point in to}Sn`, which could well be used as a recreational area and
preserved as a green belt area, The petition also stated that Stearns Avenue
is not built to withstand the added traffic, and would have to be rebuilt at
a prohibitive cost to the town. Mr. Buck spoke for the group and suggested
buying the land adjacent to the dump, and that there are two roads running off
of East Street that could be used`, He thought it would be better to keep the
dump at its present location rather than to have to build a new road and run
water to the Stearns Avenue property. The group thought that a more thorough
study should be made to determine the best location for the town dump. Further
discussion followed.
Anthony Melchiorri was present at the meeting regarding his application for a
wine and malt beverage package store license for the Central Market to be
relocated on Villa Street. The Clerk read a letter from the Church of St. John
the Evangelist advising that Mr. Melchiorri had requested the approval of the
Church in his efforts to obtain a beer and wine license for his new store. This
complies with regulations as the northwest corner of the new supermarket front-
ing on Villa Street, lies within 500 feet of the church property. The letter
advised that at a meeting held on September 8, 1969 the Vestry of the Church of
St. Uohn the Evangelist voted strongly in favor of Mr. Melchiorrie's request for
approval from the Chuarch, and there was no objection to his obtaining a license
to sell beer and wine on the premises of his new supermarket. After a dis-
cussion, Selectman Zecher moved that the license be granted. There was no
immediate second to the motion, and the Chairman relinquished the chair and
seconded the motion, and it was voted to grant the wine and malt beverage
package store license for the Central Market, 3 -0 vote _ Selectman Saunders
