The Chief cited lack of manpower and lack of a more extensive fire pre-
vention program as the main reasons for the lowering of the Town's fire
insurance rating. He feels that with the new industrial complexes and
the growing number of new houses in Town, there should be more fire pro -
tection. Mr. Hannon said the budget for FY 74 -75 will include 2 full -time
fire fighters whose prinoipl8 duty would be the maintenance of the fire
alarm system. The Town Manager agreed that while the Fire Department has
need of another full -time fire fighter and clerical help, which the Chief
requested for FY 74 -75, he could not recommend the additional personnel
at this time. He explained further that all departments' requests had to
be considered and put in perspective according to the needs of the Town
and the funds available. Mr. Hannon said that he preferred to recommend
something for each of the departments for each fiscal period rather than
having one department receive several
pieces of equipment at one time; thi
