Chairman Titus opened the meeting and.weleomed the Sohool.Committee
to the session. He opened the discussion. for nominations to fill
the vacancy on the School Committee. School Committeeman Gary Willis
moved, Selectman Caponigro seconded, that the ballot should be a
secret, written ballot; so voted. Selectman Secher moved, Committee-
man Willis seconded, that all names currently listed by the Town Clerk
should be placed in nomination at one time; so voted.
School Committee Chairman Bernard O'Malley read the names of the fol-
lowings James Hindman, Kathleen Kennedy, Fred Basch, David Thibault,
Robert Lynch, Ed Correira. School Committeewoman Rita Latham asked
when Mr. Hindman's name had been submitted. The Town Manager stated
that the name had been listed earlier the same afternoon. Selectman
Secher moved the nominations be closed, Selectman Caponigro seconded,
all in favor. For each ballot, Chairman Titus read the ballots, School
Committee, Chairman O.'Malley verified them, and the Town Manager kept
a record.
On the first ballot the following votes were received: Kathleen
Kennedy - 1, David Thibault - 2, Fred Basch - 3, James Hindman - 3.
Chairman Titus asked if any other names were to be placed in nomina-
tion for the second ballot. None were placed in nomination.
On the second ballot,,David Thibault received 2 votes, Fred Basch - 49
James Hindman - 3. Chairman Titus asked if any other names were in
nomination for the third ballot. None were placed in nomination.
On the third ballot, David Thibault received 1 vote, Fred Basch -2,
James Hindman. - 6. Chairman Titus announced that Mr. Hindman was
appointed as new School Committeeman and that his appointment would
take effect on his resignation from the Finance Committee and upon
his swearing in by the Town Clerk..
The Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
