Mr. Walter Holm, Member of the Industrial Development Commission, dis-
cussed a growing problem with the traffic loads on Route 14 and expressed
concern that they could become unbearable if Route 25 and the relocation
of Route 140 are not built soon. He sited traffic projections by C.C. & F.
in 1971 to their future impact of industrial growth. Also he was con-
cerned that the trumpet type interchange most recently proposed would still
put traffic back on to South Main Street.
In conclusion, 11r. Holm's asked the Board to reconsider its last vote
against the relocation of Route 140, he said the IDC supports the con-
struction of the two State Routes . Selectmen Titus informed him that
the last Boards'votd hAdaiotbeen transmitted to the Department of Public
Works. The Department of Public works is still working,on traffic pro-
jection to show the impact if Route 140 is not relocated. Selectmen
Levine discussed several aspects of the question, including traffic im-
pact on East Street, the additional intersection created by Route 140
and impact on new residential neighborhoods. Selectman Colella thanked
Mr. Holm for his information and said that he would be giving consider-
able study to Mr. Holm's data, before the Boaxd discusses the issue
again.
Mr. Holm said that he would supply the Boaxd with the traffic information
that C.C. & F. had gathered for itself. The Board concluded that it
would await this information and additional State Department of Public
( Work's data before reconsidering the issue.
