Board of Selectmen
Minutes of the Meeting
August 11, 1976
Page 3
the ones adopted by the town Planning Board. This will be discussed at a
meeting with the Planning Board on August 25.
Tom Bonome met with the Board to discuss the street improvement program
for the upcoming year. After discussion, Selectman Titus moved that the
program as suggested by the Highway Director be followed. There was no
formal second or vote, but after discussion, the consensus was that the
program would be left as suggested by Mr. Bonome.
The Town Manager discussed the final paving work for the road into Dustin
Well. Mr. Hannon said that the town could get the material cheaper, so
he would like to put that job out with the Church Street paving work as
one job, separate from the contract work for Dustin Well. The Board mem-
bers expressed agreement.
Selectman Titus said that he would like to see permanent emergency routines
set up for hurricane alerts such as the one on last Monday. He commented
that each department should have a written procedure, and that certain em-
ergency equipment should always be on hand. Selectman Clemmey commended the
departments for their readiness. Selectman Caponigro said that letters
should be sent to all the departments and agencies involved in the hurricane
alert commending them.
other items discussed: Back Bay Brook, Phase II; the Town Manager's most
recent activity report; Gypsy Moth spraying for next year; list of articles
for the upcoming special town meeting; color decals for town vehicles; the
MBTA meeting upcoming; and honor roll committee.
Selectman Titus discussed deviating the flow from Route 495 construction
around the lagoon, so that no water entered, and the possibility of this
solving the problem of pollution in the Norton Reservoir from the lagoon.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
