Planning Director Chad Maurer, Engineers Bill Callahan, Dan Rom, and Fernando
Requena from Camp Dresser & McKee met with the Board.to give a progress report
on the Facilities Planning for the proposed sewage treatment plant. Planning
Director Maurer said that this study was the first step in the Facilities
Plan, and it would include projected sewer needs for the Towns of Mansfield,
Norton, and Foxborough, as the provision would have to be made for them to tie
into the plant and interceptor at some future date if Mansfield were to re-
ceive funds from the state and federal governments for this project. Mr.
Callahan said that the work done by Penetryn for sewer sealing had been incor-
porated into the report. The Planning Director said that the next step in

the plant on the Dever property and land for easements for the interceptor
to the plant. Selectman Titus questioned where problems might arise to
hold up this project. Mr. Maurer said that any problems would arise at
the local level where proper steps were not taken. He said that Mansfield
might not get support from the other towns and the representatives if the
Town of Norton objects to this project, and said that a meeting at this
time between the Towns of Mansfield and Norton officials to explain the
project and get their support would be the proper avenue. Mr. Callahan
explained that the study would be done before the September 23 deadline,
at which time a public hearing would be required. The Town Manager said
that a meeting between Camp, Dresser & McKee and the Water and Sewer
Superintendent and DPW Director would be set up to review the work done
so far on this report. The Step II application will be filed after the
study is completed this coming September. A copy of this report (entitled

to the inquiry. The Town Manager said that the Recreation Commission had
looked into this and had not been in favor of it as Memorial Park would
service -the area. They had also expressed concern about the traffic in
