An Alcoholic Beverage License for Glare, Inc. was signed.
Don Anderson, Chairman of the Easton Board of Selectmen, met with the Board
to discuss the proposed gravel removal from a site on Maple Street in Mansfield.
Mr. Anderson stated that his Board is on record with the Mansfield Planning
Board as opposed to this operation, as they feel the citizens of Easton will
be more impacted by this gravel removal but will have no recourse in the matter.
Their main concerns are with increased traffic on Massapoag and Rockland Sts.
with resulting danger to children and potential for damage to the road; also
the wetland situation and the impact of water drainage to the citizens of Easton.
He then questioned whether Mansfield plans to revert the area to a sanitary
landfill operation once the gravel is removed. The Mansfield Board assured
him that this is not the case.
Selectman Caponigro spoke briefly regarding earth removal regulations, and
advised i-1r. Anderson that the Mansfield Planning Board has complete autonomy
on earth removal., and the Board of Selectmen cannot vote against permitting
this gravel removal. He also noted that the current Planning Board is a very
good, conscientious Board.
There was further discussion about the possibility of Mansfield sharing Easton's
sanitary landfill -® particularly if Mansfield could help solve the cover
material problem. Mr. Anderson stated that they are investigating compaction
to help with the cover problem, and perhaps they could share with Mansfield.
The Selectmen expressed interest in compaction, and Mr. Anderson advised that
Dick Howe could furnish information to the Town Manager.
Mr. Anderson then left to attend Planning Board Meeting.

Correspondence
A letter was noted from the Chief of police advising that no disturbance calls
were received during the past week.
A letter was received from the Recreation Commission requesting that three
members of the present Ad Hoc Committee be appointed to the new Ad Hoc Committee
to be established by the Board. Following a discussion of the composition of
the new Committee, it was decided to postpone action on the appointments.
A letter from the School Committee requesting action by the Town Manager on
the high school athletic fields drainage problems was received. The Town
Manager responded that an inspection of the areas in question had been made
by the Town Engineer and DPW Director some weeks ago; and they also had talked
with the abuttor, Robert Currivan, who noted that the flooding problems on his
Sand occurred after the school was constructed. It was learned also that RIM
Engineering did a, study on the problem at one time and they feel that the fields
were not built according to the design plans. Chairman Avery noted that there
are three perimeter drains along Mr. Currivan's property, but they have been
covered up; also that there are lateral drains that run from the parking lot.
It is planned that the DPW will clean out the culverts and drainage areas in
December. The Town Engineer does not have time to do an engineering study
because of the size of the project; he is in the process of getting quotations
from three engineering firms.
An invitation was noted from the Now England Merchants National Bank to a
Municipal Conference to be held on Friday, October 26, 1979, Selectman DeLong
mentioned that this conflicts with the New England Municipal Association

the prompt action by the DPW in repairing the sidewalk at their home.

was received.
A letter from the Community Health Agency, Inc. outlining their schedule for
