MINUTES OF THE MEETING
JULY 319 1980
At 7:30 P.M. the meeting was called to order for Town Manager Interviews:
PRESENT: Chairman Mahana, Selectmen May, Levine, DeLong, Avery, Recording
Secretary Beverly Amicone.
Interviews were conducted with Steven H. Perry, Allison Park, PA, Curtis E.
Olsen, Storrs, CT, and Chadwick Maurer, Jr., Mansfield, MA.(Minutes of
interviews typed separately.)
At the conclusion of the third interview for the night and the last out of a
total of eleven conducted in open session, Chairman Mahana polled the Board
as to whether they were ready to choose three finalists tonight. All in
favor with the suggestion that it was not necessary to choose three if unable
to agree on more than two.
A ballot vote was taken with the following results:
David May: Michael Brown, Chad Maurer
S. Levine: Michael Brown, Laurence Whittaker, Chad Maurer
N. Mahana: Michael Brown, Chad Maurer, Steven Perry
L. Avery : Michael Brown, Chad Maurer, Donald Sawyer
R. DeLong: Michael Brown, Chad Maurer
Chairman Mahana announced the Board had voted unanimously for Michael Broom
and Chad Maurer as the two finalists for Town Manager position with no
consensus on a third candidate.
Chairman Mahana directed that Michael Brown be contacted with permission to
check references. Selectman DeLong suggested Chairman Mahana and Selectman Avery
travel to Connecticut on Monday, August 4 to contact personally Michael Brown's
references, after which Mr. Brown would be asked to come in for another
interview.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:45 P.M.
