Company at a cost of $5,100.00. Approved, McNair /Dunn VOTED: 3 -0.
Michael Jones - M.M.W.E.C.
Mr. Jones noted that there will be a special membership meeting December
11, 1985 at 7:30 P.M. at the Worcester Marriott to go over the budget for
the next year. He also had a report on incentive rates for the Board to
read. There was a short discussion on vintage rates, excess money in
project revenue funds which MMWEC recommends to take and buy back bonds
on the open market as the prices are lower. It was estimated that the
$1.5M in excess money could buy back $2.25M in bonds, which include the
Wyman project and Nuclear Mix 1,3,4, &5. Mansfield would save around
$10,000 /year in power costs. Two of the three Stony Brook units are
out for maintenance. One unit has a problem in the generators. We are
getting power now from PASNY. Winter capability study started November
1, 1985. Starting January 1, 1986, MP94EC will be billing for part of the
interest due on Seabrook which will be around $200,000 per month. This
is a 20% revenue requiement increase in 1986 as part of the phase in.
This would affect commercial and industrial customers the most as the
residential increase would be offset by the PASNY power. It was
suggested that they meet with the commercial and industrial customers on
the rate increase. Testing for Seabrok and Millstone are going well.
Board members asked if Allan Jones could do a financial impact analysis
per industry with alternatives before meeting with the customers.
Old Business - Manager Mr. Larch reported that they are putting together
the Christmas lights and that there is still 3 -4 weeks of work on the
downtown project.
Old Business - Commissioners - Commissioner McNair suggested that he and
Commissioner Mahana get together with Mr. Larch soon to go over his
contract renewal. He also had some concerns with tree trimming and fallen
branches from the storm.
New Business - Manager - Mr. Larch mentioned that he had discussed taking
the Electric Department and DPW employees along with some other town
employees out to dinner at Hidden Country in appreciation of the extra
effort they put out during the storm. It would probably cost around
$1200. for the dinner. Board will discuss it with the Manager and Town
Manager. It was suggested that all volunteers be included.
