BOARD OF LIGHT COMMISSIONERS
MINUTES OF MEETING
JANUARY 22, 1990
PRESENT: Chairman Markt, Commissioners Sarro, Tartufo and Harrington.
Commissioner Dunn arrived at 7:30pm
Meeting called to order at 7:15pm
OLD BUSINESS:
CABLEVISION BILL:
The Light Manager reported that he is working on getting a bill to
Cablevision TV for pole rental fees due back to 1983. There was
discussion about turning this money over to the Town. The Manager
informed the Commissioners that the mechanics of such a transaction
must be acceptable to the Auditors.
MOTION: To have the manager explore the possibility of transferring
the past due pole rental fees from Cablevision to the Town.

( OPERATING CASH RECONCILIATION:
The Manager reported that he had been contacted by the Town Manager
about the fact that the Departments' operating cash figure does not
match the Town Accountants figure. The Manager told the Commissioners
that he would work with the Town Accountant to reconcile the figures.
COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION PLAN:
The Manager presented the Compensation and Classification Plan prepared
for the Department by the Massachusetts Municipal Association and gave
his recommendations regarding its implementation. Commissioner Harring
ton stated that this is a year for belt tightening and that he didn't
agree with the recommendations. After a discussion of the matter the
Manager was instructed to invite Steve Delaney to a Light Commission
Meeting to review his work.
TELEPHONE CABLES:
There was a discussion of putting the utilities underground on
North Main Street.
MOTION: To have the Manager seek legal advice regarding placing
the telephone cable on North Main Street underground

SUBSTANCE ABUSE:
The Commissioners instructed the Manager to get a report from Labor
Council on the substance abuse questions previously discussed with
him.
