Capital Improvement looked at a number of projects and needs to find ways to fund these projects. The Town Manager requested an additional increase of the PILOT fund of $135,247. It was made clear that this additional $135,247 would be a one time deal not a recurring expense for the Electric Department. The Manager stated that although he had no objection to paying an additional $135,247 to the PILOT fund, he wanted the Board to be aware that every dollar you take from the Electric Department is money that you take from the rate payer and give to the taxpayer. MOTION: To approve an additional payment to the PILOT fund of $135,247. This is a one time deal and will not be a recurring expense. Pasquale /Penney Vote 4 - 0 ALVES ARBITRATION Mr. Alves was demoted from an Assistant Line Foreman•to a Lineman 1st class, his wages were red circled and his work assignment will be whatever the Manager dictates. As a result, Mr. Alves will perform meter reading duties, but can retire at age 55 in Group 4. SALES TAX APPEAL The normal procedure is that we would receive a letter from the auditor or his boss. Then we would be able to appeal to the hearing officer. However, our initial letter was from the person in charge of hearing officers. Therefore, we can't appeal to the hearing officer. As a result, we have filed an abatement. Holyoke has joined us. If we don't receive an abatement, we can go to court to settle this matter. DOUG MAXWELL RETIREMENT Doug Maxwell, the Superintendent announced he will be retiring the end of April, 1994.
