CONSERVATION PROGRAM
The Manager advised the Board that only four individuals have responded to the energy
conservation 40% savings program. The Board agreed that the flyer sent may have
resembled junk mail and may have been thrown out. It was agreed that we would look at
a bill stuffer and perhaps advertise in the local paper sometime in September.
RATE. STUD
The Manager advised the Board that PLM has proposed new rates for industrial and
commercial customers which will be much more competitive with Mass Electric rates.
A May 15, 1995 Workshop was scheduled to present and discuss the new proposed rates.
Commissioner Royle stated that she would like to see the Municipal rates lowered.
The Manager advised the Board that he would be presenting two proposals for our
substation maintenance at the next meeting.
The Manager advised the Board that the lease at 125 High Street is effective until
December 31, 1996. However, as part of the lease, we have to notify the landlord six
months into the 4th year of the lease if we plan to renew the lease, or exercise the
purchase option. The Board will have to start thinking about whether, we want to
renegotiate the lease, exercise the purchase option, lease elsewhere or build.
The Manager stated that he feels we should exercise the purchase option and purchase the
unit at 125 High Street. It is the most economical approach.
The Manager advised the Board that several years ago an Assistant Business Manager's
position was approved by the Board of Light Commissioners. However, at that time the
position was not filled. The Manager would like to fill that position at this time and
promote Michelle White. Commissioner Royle agreed that this would be a good idea.
The Board advised the Manager that they would think it over and make a decision for the
next meeting.
MOTION: To adjourn the meeting at 8:45 pm
