MINUTES ?,I Ju'l "7 FP 8' L 3
May 21, 1991
The Board of Appeals held its regular meeting in the Town
Hall, Mansfield, MA at 7:45 PM. Present at the hearing were
the following members: George Wojtkiewicz, Chairman; Mary -
Lou Cotton, Clerk; Eric Butler; and Peter DeTrolio, Jr. and
Richard Secher, Associate Members.
There were no hearings scheduled for this meeting.
It was unanimously voted to have Debra Bloom order a name
plate for herself.
It was unanimously voted to refund the application fee of
$135 to Scott Yellin, as no action was taken regarding his
application before it was withdrawn.
June 25th is the date that has been set for the Norman
Vickery trial. Town Counsel Robert Mangiaratti has asked
that members of the ZBA be on hand for the opening of the
trial. Mr. DeTrolio, Mr. Butler and Mr. Wojtkiewicz will
appear as witnesses on the town's behalf. Debra will submit
these names to Mr. Mangiaratti.
The minutes of May 7 were read and approved with one minor
change.
Mrs. Cotton read a memo from the Selectmen regarding a joint
meeting to occur in June. Members will be informed of the
date once it has been confirmed.
Mr. DeTrolio asked a question regarding ZBA hearing
protocol, specifically if non - residents are allowed to give
testimony either in behalf of or against an applicant. Mr.
Wojtkiewicz responded that because hearings are public
events, no -one can be barred from speaking. Mr. Butler
added that the information volunteered by a non - resident
should be judged on the merits of that information, not on
whether they live in Mansfield or not. Mrs. Cotton
concluded that it is incumbent upon the applicant to
retaliate if they think someone is speaking out of turn or
giving false and misleading information to the Board.
It was unanimously voted to schedule summer hearing dates as
follows: Tuesday, July 9th and Tuesday, August 6th.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
