(Dolan - Sullivan) 5 -0 PASSES Minutes of July 7, 1997 Mr. French suggested to the Board that they may wish to discuss the upcoming meeting to take place on Thursday, July 10, 1997 with the Norton and Mansfield Boards of Selectmen, Planning Boards, and Industrial Development Commissions. The group agreed and discussion followed. A variety of suggestions were offered, including the suggestion that Mansfield would like no development to occur in the Great Woods as it is the largest remaining contiguous forested area in the region. The suggestion was also raised to accommodate developa:r.jP of the Norton land, but to state unequivocally that no developry t -nt should accur in -the Mansfield portion of the Great 70ods and that only minimal assistance should be made to Norton to accommodate traffic created by the development. It was also suggested that the possibility of north and southbound slip ramps at the intersection of Routes 495 and 140, resulting in a full diamond interchange, may be preferable to any discussion of other means of access that would traverse the Great Woods. Consensus was that the Planning Board should state very clearly on Thursday night that their desire is not to see the Great Woods in Mansfield developed, but rather Mansfield's long - standing conservation efforts respected. It was further decided that, in the absence of any project proponent or site specific proposals, the focus of the meeting should be on the potential for a joint Mansfield Norton Strategic Planning Grant Application as intended. The meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m. ignature of Clerk Minutes of July 7, 1997 Date ofNextaVleehugc .July 16,-1997 2 /47 Date of ApprovT al 2
