Discussion: Selectman Aptowitz stated that he noticed many school dept.
bills are high (for the end of the school year) and was unsettled by this trend.
Selectman Kozlowski and Selectman Dentino were also looking at the bills and
noticed that there where some large expenditures in the warrant as well.
Mr. Ross noticed as well and will be discussing this with Supt. Hodges. He has
been very careful to instruct municipal staff to only spend where absolutely
necessary. Unfortunately he cannot control what or where the school spends
money on.

Town Managers Report
· MBTA will be upgrading and computerizing their parking system of payment by
the end of July and Mr. Ross has requested that the town lot be included in this
upgrade.
. Attended Smith and Nephew hearing this morning in Boston for their economic
development incentive package. It was approve by the state and Mansfield was
thought of very highly by the business broker.
· He has had staff review the Fales Oil property for building demolition (and turn
the property into a parking lot). It will cost about 40 thousand dollars to remove
the building. The lot would provide about 40-50 spaces for down town business
utilization.
Selectman Dentino has reservations about spending money on turning this
property into a parking lot. Both are due to the fact that we have a tight budget
and the property was contaminated in the past.
Selectman Aptowitz had asked Mr. Ross to look into the possibility of using this
property for another use. He has heard several times that there is not enough
downtown parking and to see if the lot could be used. Now that he has done the
research it will be up to the board to figure out if they want to do anything else
with it.
Both Selectmen Dentino and Annino feel there is adequate parking in the
downtown area, residents and businesses need to be made aware of where it is
available.
. According to Town Accountant John Stanbrook, budget numbers for the end of
the current fiscal year are on target.
. Mr. Ross and Mark Cook, Highway Dept. Manager went out and spoke with north
end business's that use the train rails in the area of last weeks train derailment.
The businesses will be paying for the rail spur and has asked the town to pave the
area. Mr. Cook stated that paving costs would be minimal and the town has done it
before to promote business growth in the area.
· Mr. Ross and Jeff Collins, Animal Control Officer, have met with the parties that
are involved with the dog complaint from last week. He is attempting to work with
them on resolving this issue.

follow up with the dept. on this issue.
Questions on the professional development policy. He saw that staff was going for
classes and remembers that the town manager would provide any updates on when
and who is getting training. He would like Mr. Ross to track those and report them
to the board.
Questions on uniform allowances that were submitted in this weeks warrant.
Mr. Ross will further research this issue as well.
