Present: Chairman Madan, Clerk McCarter, Selectmen Mahana, Robinson, and
Royle
John D'Agostino, Town Manager
The purpose of this executive session was to discuss land values.
Town Manager D'Agostino inquired if the Board of Selectmen would support the
acquisition of 4 acres of land owned by Nancy Eames. This purchase would allow for a
contiguous land mass at the Witch Pond Well and would clear the title to the property.
Ms. Eames offered to sell the land to the Town for $6,000.
Motion: That we support the acquisition of the land at the assessed value of $6,000.
(Mahana - Royle) All in favor. Passes.
Town Manager D'Agostino asked if the Selectmen would be interested in purchasing
12.5 acres of land behind the Jordan Jackson and Robinson Schools at a cost of $65,000.
$100,000 has been set aside for this purpose. Purchase of the land would allow for two
additional ball fields.
The Board of Selectmen discussed whether or not the land is buildable and access to the
land. An informal consensus of the Board was in favor of the Town Manager continuing
to pursue the land but with questions.
Lastly, Town Manger D'Agostino informed the Selectmen that Richard Morse's attorney
made a counter offer to the Town for $450,000 to avoid an appeal of the jury's decision
on the value of the Town's taking of his land.
Motion: That we counter offer with a range of $400,000 to $425,000.

Motion: That we counter offer with a range of $400,000 to $420,000.
( Royle- Mahana) (4 -1) Selectman Robinson opposed. Passes.
Chairman Madan polled the Board of Selectmen to adjourn the executive session and
return to open session.
