Clerk Mahana also asked if a column could be added to the budget reflecting the percent increase or decrease from last year's budget, and lastly requested one budget book rather than the two or three books provided last year. During his discussion with the Selectmen, Mr. Gazzolo highlighted the following items concerning the FY98 budget: Debt and revenue needs to be understood in the Water and Wastewater budgets. • The new budget format needs to be understood better. • Is the tax levy amount correct, or is it $400,000 too high? • Union salaries and benefits will have to be added to the budget. • Ten personnel should be added to the benefits line item because of School Department new hires. • The Finance Committee would like the School Department's budget increase at 5% rather than 9 %. • Will there be additional capital improvement's requests? Two hundred fifty thousand of the tlu•ee hundred thousand dollars will be needed for the Fulton's Pond dam. • Miscellaneous interest earnings will need to be reviewed because of the major change, - $70,000.
