summarized the situation to date. Mr. Guy presented copies of two cost
estimates he had received for "acoustical treatment" of his kennels, saying
they could possibly be effective but were way beyond his means. One for
$6,500. the other $10,587; the $6,500 method does not include installation.
Mr. Guy said he has done what was asked of him by keeping windows closed and
the air conditioning on; the neighbors claimed there was no noticeable
change. Mr. Guy also advised the estimates cost him close to $200.00.
Selectwoman Royle thanked Mr. Guy for doing what the Board had asked and
thanked him for securing the estimates.
Mr. Bilodeau asked Selectman Ronald about the kennel he had mentioned at the
previous hearing. Selectman Ronald said it was a different situation and
totally different set up. Mrs. Bowers, of 66 Jewell Street, said the kennel
was there long before Forest Park was built (the subdivision Mr. Bilodeau
resides in), and Mr. Guy has done alot and enjoys an international reputa-
tion in breeding boxer dogs. Mr. Bilodeau mentioned other businesses and
dog complaints which had been restricted; he suggested some kind of abate-
ment. Chairman Pasquale answered his comments.
Selectman Robinson said he is not willing to take action; there is need for
more communication between the parties. Selectwoman Royle said she used to
live near the airport and had to learn to accept the planes flying over her
pool. She then suggested that all the neighbors contribute to the block
sound- proofing. Selectman Penney said he understood people who bought homes
in the Alladan Kennel area were fully aware there was a kennel there. One
neighbor mentioned a legal action they could take. Mr. Billodeau said he
does not feel the Board has indicated there is a 'nuisance'.
The hearing was closed.
* MOTION: To request Mr. Guy to continue with the steps such as keeping the
windows closed, air conditioning on, Sun morning start at 7:30 A.M.
and any other steps he feels appropriate to abate the -pnrlm.
