Present:
Chairman Gazzolo called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.
Chairman Gazzolo discussed a recent memo from John D' Agostino that was in response to
recommendations we made regarding the Light Dept. Fincom will respond t the commissioners seeking
direction and clarification because John's memo didn't seem to be responsive to our comments.
All budgets are expected to be delivered to Fincom within the 1512 weeks of January.
Andy indicated John wanted to convene a meeting with Schools, Selectmen and Fincom to discuss the
budget process on December 14th. It seems too many Fincom members are unable to attend so Andy will
suggest a future date for a workshop.
In connection with the Light Dept's change in fiscal year and suggestion to use a single auditor, Jack will
draft some suggestions to move this along until an audit committee is formed and can handle such matters.
Andy discussed the possibility of writing an article to communicate the accomplishments of the Fincom for
inclusion in the Town's annual report. Charlene will prepare the 151 draft.
Andy suggested a memo be prepared to help us focus on future major issues. Some of these might include,
trash, budget timeline and process, salaries and benefit trends, capital project capacity and trends in the
stabilization fund.
Mike and Charlene will contact John Moretti about the budget and forecast of student population.
On a motion that was duly made and seconded, it was
Voted (5-0): that Charlene Lavin become the vice chair of Fincom, effectively immediately.
On a motion that was duly made and seconded, it was
Voted (4-1): that Jess Aptowitz becomes the recording secretary of Fincom effective at our next meeting.
Andy discussed the preparation of a presentation to be made to the Selectmen to follow up on a previously
accepted recommendation to forma task force to give those who negotiate contracts on behalf of the Town
some guidelines and parameters.
On a motion that was duly made and seconded, it was
