Meeting Minutes
March 20, 2013
7:30 pm @Town Hall 3rd Floor
Present: Neil, Mike, Pat, Nancy, Jason, David, Patricia

Welcome &Administration: 7:30-7:45
1. Review& approve minutes from previous meeting -approved
Litter Prevention and Cleanup 7:45-8:15
2. 2013 GMC
a. Publicity (Neil)
i. Neil did the TV show.
ii. We didn't get a big poster,but we are going to use the smaller printed
one.
iii. We are in the school newsletter at St Mary's, School website,email blast
b. Community group outreach (Pat)
i. More feedback so far than last year
c. Banner(Nancy)-All set to be hung
d. Tee-shirts(Brian)-We decided on Electric Green-Maybe we will look at a new
design for the shirt next year. Going to order the shirts this Friday March 22—
Finn Graphics
e. We decided for this year not to combine the party with Norton-maybe we could
combine next year with the town-this year maybe we would invite just the
leadership group to the party to meet them and to better understand everything
that goes into the party
f. North Attleboro is trying to organize one for this year
g. Nancy is going to check with Recycle bags is John Engler-who is with Comcast
h. Litter Index—Saturday April 6-6 people-2 cars—Mike is going to arrange
order of streets 9-11 am
Beautification&Community Greening:8:15-9:00
1. Route 106 embankment
a. Doug Annino drew up a plan— Neil met with Doug and Lee Azzinara
b. Neil put in the plan for the grant request—Through Lowe's KAB- Request was
for$20k.
2. Logan Mark project
a. He had the tree hearing and there were 2 people that were opposed to taking the
tree down.
b. He is not going to take out the tree
c. He may end up working around it
d. He is still going to do the school sites
e. Do we want to look at supporting him and taking over this project? We are going
to ask Logan to pursue the next step with the selectman of taking the tree down
and then maybe we could take over from there if it is approved. One idea is to
replace the tree with another smaller tree.
3. Trash Can Be Beautiful
a. Mansfield Youth Soccer-wants to do 4 barrels of soccer theme Mark Cook
has the barrels already done ready to go. Neil is going to get in touch with them.
b. Spring deployment-we still have about 10 missing-Patricia is still waiting to
hear back from Mark Cook on where they may be. Thought is to set meeting
with Lee and Mark and come up with a plan for this and other needs for the
spring. After 12 will work not Tue or Thursday with Nancy, Pat, Patricia and Neil.
4. Adopt a Spot(Pat)-Pat talked to 2 separate girl scout troops-
a. 1 taking over the right side of the.Mansfield Green-Anna Newell is helping with
this-if they raise money, maybe we would look at making a matching donation
or some financial assistance
b.° 1 taking over the East Common area
c. For the Mansfield Green-Jason is going to look up fertilizing the rhododendrons
and mountain laurels so hopefully they come back better this year
5. Mural Update (Nancy)-They have a facebook page
a. People can donate via paypal
b. Wall Prep might start in April
Administration: 9:00-9:30
6. Treasurer's report(Mike)
a. 2013 fundraising update—We have $10,844 in account so far. We have raised
$3375—we have$500 coming from Smith & Nephew and$300 from Triton and
Attractions Hair Salon coming-We want to compare this year and last year
donor list to see how we are doing with repeat donor,and then maybe follow up
with call list
b. Status of account at Mansfield Bank and Paypal Mike and Nancy and Brian
working on getting it set up on the website—some discussion surrounding having
paypal links for both KMB and Mural on same sight
c. Lowe's grants-Neil applied for the 106 embankment($20k) and a $5k grant to
produce a video surrounding litter clean-up
7. Town Manager's feedback on our committee
a. Neil had a discussion with Town Manager Bill Ross regarding our status and
becoming more in line with an officially recognized committee of the town, there
are no more Ad-HOC committees.
b. Partially because we have a gift fund is why we need to do this.
c. We will need to re-apply and then get re-confirmed by the Selectman.
d. Neil will be going to present this to the Selectman meeting on April 3.
8. Communications& PR(Neil)
a. Rotary Club meeting, March 26, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. -Neil is going to attend
and try to get them to sign up
b. MHS Green Day, March 28, 8:30-11:00 a.m. -Neil is going to attend-he is
going to try and recruit volunteers to the clean-up
c. North Attleboro meeting April 3 for clean-up
d. Social media update (Brian) 201 Facebook, 185 followers
e. Thank you notes—We will need some for the next meeting and around clean-up
time
