The following policies were reviewed with modifications and recommended to move forward to the full committee:
• JLCD-R Administration of Medication to Student Regulations/Protocols:
Betsy Savoie and Michelle McKeon provided a chart comparing our current protocols (JLCD-R) with a proposed
MASC policy JLCDC. After careful review, Mansfield will not adopt 1LCDC but will incorporate changes needed into
JLCD-R and JLCD. Some modifications had been made during prior policy meetings. Tonight, final suggestions were
agreed upon and JLCD, JLCD-R will be moved forward to the full committee on 9/8/26.
New Protect Act (within 48 hours due to announcement by the DESE Commissioners Office):
Lynn Cavicchi reviewed the DESE proposals for district policy language and proposed drafts for ACH Interacting with
Laws Enforcement Officers Engaged in Civil Law Enforcement and ACH-R Administrative Procedures for Interacting
with Civil Law Enforcement. Superintendent McKeon noted that in the spring the leadership reviewed the pending
recommendations and felt that our district procedures aligned with what was being proposed. The district will
designate contact points at each building and at the district level. Murphy, Hesse, Toomey and Lehane (MHTL) will
be designated as our legal contact. The new policy / procedure was approved and will be moved forward to the full
committee. Lynn recommended that we reference the DESE guidance document. Michelle will reach out to
Transportation Manager Leslie Green to ensure that bus drivers are made aware of the procedures.
• FF Naming Facilities (within 48 hours due to a letter requesting a naming change on Alumni Field):
School Committee Chair Jenn Walsh requested that the subcommittee review this policy in light of a request to
rename Alumni Field. She would like to address the request at the 9/8/26 school committee meeting. The
subcommittee reviewed the current policy with district administration and were comfortable with how the policy
read. Minor changes had been suggested in a July meeting but these are minimal and will be addressed at a later
date.
KHB Advertising:
In preparation for using our new scoreboard for advertising and revenue, the district has worked with the policy
subcommittee to create a policy, internal procedures and a fee structure. These documents were reviewed at the
July subcommittee meeting. Changes were proposed and updated versions were reviewed this evening. Items
discussed included specific regulations around the use of the new revolving account. Details regarding the approval
to create the account, usage and the creation of subaccounts were discussed. Further discussion narrowed down
what items would be in policy vs procedures or if needed, both. Lynn Cavicchi wanted to ensure that the funds were
available to groups outside of athletics. However, it was noted that fund usage would be limited to the Mansfield
Public Schools. The initial acceptance for advertising will be on the Alumni Field scoreboard. The process and
success will be evaluated before expanding it to other opportunities. It was decided that final approval will rest
with the Superintendent. However, the Superintendent may consult with The School Committee as needed. Andy
Waugh (MHTL) will create a formal legal agreement to be used for contracted advertising services. Lynn requested
that Andy also look at the final policy and procedure before proceeding to the school committee on 9/8/26. Due to
