1. The meeting was called to order at 6:01 PM.
2. Minutes of the Recreation Commission Meeting from July 28, 2026.

Motion: By Patrick Latchaw to approve the request as written.
Seconded by Chris Leard.
Motion passes, 3-0.
Mansfield Girls Softball- Mark McGuire
Memorial Park Softball Field; Saturdays: September 12 - October 17, 3:00-5:00pm
Mark McGuire withdrew his application for a field. He is using the school fields.
Scorpions Soccer- Adam Hughes
Turf Field; September 27, October 18, November 15- 12:00-5:00pm

• Mansfield Youth Flag Football- Patrick Marr

4. Old Business: Discussion with potential to vote
• Patrick Latchaw informed the Commissioners that the Open Space Committee has not
met.
• Christine Leard had no updates regarding the Memorial Park Master Plan Study Review
• Linda McCabe stated that the 2501h Committee has a meeting Thursday, August 27. At
the meeting, they will vote on the Goose sculpture and the locations for their placement.
• Sherri Gurnon made the Recreation Commissioners aware that they are disabling the
utilities at 50 West Street.
• Ms. Gurnon revealed that she has followed up with the Town Manager and DPW
regarding the disabling of the Memorial Park Skate Park. However, she has not heard
anything.
• Sherri Gurnon announced that the Town / MYS Contract is still under review with legal.
• Ms, Gurnon mentioned that one of the CIP requests for FY 27 was to replace the
bleachers at Memorial Park. A 300 seat, towable set of aluminum bleachers will cost
$300,000. Also, on the FY27 CIP is the tennis court replacement design that will cost
$170,000, Sherri Gurnon mentioned that the property off Plain Street, on Dario Way is a
parcel that there hopes to be a new Recreation area for kayaking and swimming.
However, that will be in FY 29 or later.
• Sherri Gurnon noted that O'Brien and Sons were out to Plymouth Street Playground this
week and made the repair to the Alpha Tower structure and Whooshwinder at no cost to
the town.
5. New Business:
• Ms. Gurnon mentioned that there are two more dates for the Mansfield Common Market -
September 5 & 19.
• Sherri Gurnon announced that the Arts & Crafts Show is Saturday, October 3.
• Ms. Gurnon remarked that the Halloween Costume Swap is Wednesday, October 14,
however, we are accepting costumes, starting September 1.
• Sherri Gurnon informed the Recreation Commissioners that the Halloween Parade is
Saturday, October 24, 11:00am. Ms. Gurnon requested the assistance of the
Commissioners to be judges at the parade.
• Ms. Gurnon notified the Recreation Commissioners of the Special Town Meeting on
Thursday, November 12.
6. Next Commission Meetine: Tuesday, September 29, 2026 6:OOpm
