Discussion of Erick Road and Bonnev Lane Prooert
Mr. Jim Howland attended the meeting to discuss the opportunities available from the Greater
Attleboro/Taunton Home Consortium for the development of this property. This consortium supports low
Income housing development and improvements In 14 area towns Including Mansfield.
Based on the site plan, Mr. Howland thought we should investigate putting in two townhouse units of 700
to 900 square feet each that would be sold to low income first time homebuyers.
Funds are provided by the federal Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) for the
development of low income housing. HUD has a specific grant program for a committee of our type
called Community Housing Development Organization (CHDOs). Mr. Howland stated that If we qualify
as a CHDO that potentially $345,000 in grant funding would be available for our project. In addition, the
consortium also can provide down payment assistance.
The next steps for the Committee to receive grant funding are
• Certify Corporation - Complete CHDOs checklist and submit to the consortium for this specific
project. Mr. Howland will assist if there are questions on the form. This form was shared with
committee and each member will work on completing and discussed at the May meeting. After
submittal of the form to the consortium it will be reviewed and if acceptable certified
Consortium will complete an environmental review of the site to determine if there are any
environmental impacts that may impact this site.
• Prepare a plan for the site. Mr. Howland will email several engineering firms as a starting point
for committee to have site plan completed.
• Send a letter to the consortium for the requested grant funding for approval.
• Consortium votes to approve grant funding.
