SC Members Present: Lynn Cavicchi (chair), Jenifer Sellon Others present: Michelle McKeon, Amy Bright Approval of Policy Minutes: Approved 2 — 0 • 01-29-26 Policy Reviewed and Ready for School Committee: • JB Equal Educational Opportunities: Reviewed; no changes. • 1BB Educational Equity: Revised (minor edit with one phrase removed.) Applies to handbooks. • JEB Entrance Age: Minor revision for clarity. • 1F School Admissions: Revised for current practices. • 1FABC Admission of Charter School Transfer Students: There is no change to policy; only a title change to match MASC. • JFC Withdrawal of Students: Obsolete policy no longer in MASC guide. • JG Assignment of Students: Obsolete policy no longer in MASC guide. • JH School Attendance: Revise for new district practices per DESE guidance. The district will no longer withdraw students who are away on vacation. Applies to Handbooks. • JI Student Rights and Responsibilities: Reviewed minor housekeeping changes. • JIB Student Involvement in Decision -Making & Student Advisory Committee: Reviewed with no changes. Applies to handbooks. • JICA Student Dress Code: This new policy will serve as the basis for handbook language. • ACE Student Publications: This new policy limits district liability for items published by students. • JICF Gang Activity/Secret Societies: This policy has not been updated in a very long time. Minor revision for change in title and additional language to match MASC. • JICFA Prohibition of Hazing" Removal of one phrase to match MASC. Applies to handbooks. • JICFA-E Hazing: This exhibition should match State stature; revisions made to match language. This applies to handbooks. Policy Review but Further Discussion Needed: • JFAB Nonresident Students: This policy is being revised to match current practices. There was some discussion regarding specific language. Suggested that the District view Franklin and Wenham sample policies for examples. Revisit at next policy meeting. JABB Requirements for Nonresident Students: Will be deleted once JFAB is finalized. Policy Initial Discussion: • KHB Advertising in the Schools and on School Property: This policy was first reviewed in 2024 in preparation for the new scoreboard on Alumni Field. It is being introduced again now as a potential revenue generator. Superintendent McKeon and Director of Finance & Operations Violette reviewed Approved 06-17-26 Mansfield School Committee Policy Subcommittee Meeting Minutes for March 05, 2026 Superintendent's Office, 2 Park Row, Mansfield, MA 02048 options prior to this meeting. Next steps are to draft a policy and then start to workout the details. The goal is to have policy and procedures in place by the end of this school year so that the scoreboard can be used in the fall. There are some key points to consider: o What rates will be charged, how will they be tiered, and will any groups receive discounts or waivers. o What is the scope? (Alumni Field, gym, auditoriums?) o Discuss structure of contracts, create standard form and determine contract lengths. What are backup plans (i.e. vendor has picked 9/14 as the date to advertise, but that game is cancelled. What happens next?) o What procedures will be setup for the review/approval process? What advertisements are allowed / prohibited?
