These changes will be updated and moved to the permanent policy folder. • JICFB Bullying Prevention and Intervention was modified to replace RTI with MTSS. • JICFB-R Bully Prevention and Intervention Plan was modified to replace RTI with MTSS. The following policies were reviewed for minor modification and approved to move forward to the full committee. • ECAB Access to Buildings and Grounds • EEAEA Bus Driver Examination and Training • 1FBB School Choice • 1H Student Attendance was modified for extended vacation procedures which are currently in place. • JII: Student Complaints and Grievances • J1:Co-Curricular and Extracurricular Activities • JJA: Student Organizations • JLC Student Health Services • KBG Parent Advisory Councils The following policies were reviewed and require updating before moving forward. • 1FAB Non -Resident Students -This policy will be combined with JFABB and deleted. • 1FABB Requirements for Non -Resident Students: There are a couple of minor changes in response to attorney feedback. We will include that students must be in good conduct and academic standing. There will continue to be no specific cutoff date for determining whether or not a student can finish the school year. • JLCD-R Lynn and Betsy will work out the specifics of our regulations regarding staff administration of medicine. Michelle and Jessica will further discuss with Betsy how this will look for our staff and whether or not we need to reach out to the union. JLCDC Self -administration of Medication and Self -Carry of Medication is a new policy. Future meeting will need to work through to make sure that JLCD, JLCD-R and JLCDC are in synch. It was noted that MASC no longer has JLCD-R and has replaced it with JLCDC while moving some of JLCD-R to JLCD. The biggest concern is delegating staff to administer medications. The new law seemed to have the intent to tighten this up so that teachers are not administering medications. However, it could also be interpreted as mandating teachers to administer. This needs to be really looked at in regards to training and liability. Next steps: Look at JLCD, JLCD-R and JLCDC all together and determine what language is needed and what processes need to be put in place. Review of JKAA Physical Restraint of Students • JKA Corporal Punishment will be deleted after the language is incorporated into 1KCC Physical Restraint • Jessica Davis pulled our current policy and reviewed the proposed state regulations with Murphy, Hesse, Toomey and Lehane. Our proposed policy is slightly different than the MASC policy but it fits with our needs. The title will be changed to "Time -Out, Seclusion, and Physical Restraint of Students" per MASC. • There will likely be further guidance from the state this summer. If so, it will impact language on page 6. If the guidance is received by early August then we will include those changes. However, if not, we will move the policy forward for approval as is and then revisit the regulations once received. The full policy will be added to the Common Handbook section. • Also, on page 6 were two versions of a statement regarding the inclusion of staff members. The committee opted to go with the version highlighted in green which will not mandate that specific staff members be present. Approved 07-27-26 Mansfield School Committee Policy Subcommittee Meeting Minutes for June 17, 2026 Superintendent's Office, 2 Park Row, Mansfield, MA 02048 • There are two sections in page 7 where 'School Committee' needs to be capitalized. • It was noted that with the new handbook procedures where there is a common section and some policies are fully embedded while others are referenced, we need to notify parents that the handbooks are not static documents. A disclaimer will be added to the handbooks letting parents know this. The following policies have been established as priorities for the summer and fall: • Advertising policy, internal procedures, and finances (including rates and account creation) o There are 4 key focus areas: • Policy (will this be district -wide or Alumni field only, what advertising is allowed) • Procedures for approving including contract language and the review/approval process • Rates including any tiers, discounts or waivers that may be considered • Accounts (Where will money be deposited? How will it be managed?) • Competency Determination regarding any updates released by DESE in June • Graduation Requirements which will apply to those students who are currently in grade 7 • Remaining J policies • B and C policies Next meeting: July 27, 2026 3:30 p.m. Other items within 48 hours- None Meeting adjourned at 5:43 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Diane Nugent, Administrative Assistant
