For elementary schools, hard copies will be sent home in backpacks for this year only. Going forward all report cards will be viewed electronically. The district has made a major step toward digital ADA compliance. We have partnered with a vendor whose software will sit on top of our Apptegy/Thrillshare software used for website development. All PDF files will be made compliant as they are added. Last week a conversion effort occurred which made compliant all existing files uploaded within last two years. For older files any user can select a link to convert individual files. There is still a lot of work to go but this is a very good start. Lynn Cavicchi asked about next steps and training for all staff. The district indicated that we will be focusing on these items next. The priority was to make our public facing website compliant first. Assistant Superintendent Jessica Davis provided an update on the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAL) activities for the year. Typically, board members attend to provide this update but were unable to be present this evening. Jessica noted that the current president and vice president are leaving their positions at the end of this year but will work closely with new board members for a smooth transition. Some of the highlights this past year were improved attendance for parents, a stronger SEPAC community; and closer ties with vendors who are willing to do presentations to the group. SPEAC is currently looking at ideas to further improve attendance at meetings and events. Ms. Davis also noted improved ties with ELPAC, MESA and QMS PAC.
