Welcome Tobey Ludlow
The committee welcomed our newest member, Tobey Ludlow. Tobey is involved with the Mansfield MA
Climate Activists organization and has a keen interest in recycling. She will provide a brief bio to Kelly
Kemp for our KMB website. Committee members provided introductions and discussed opportunities for
Tobey to get involved in our KMB programs. Jeff Ward will provide Tobey's email info to the members.
Fundraising
Jeff Ward will place a note on the November 2025 agenda to begin discussions on strategy ideas for KMB
fundraising for 2026. Kara Hanks mentioned she discussed the financial needs of organizations with Ben
Esposito. Committee members aheady planned to put a placeholder item on the January 2026 agenda to
discuss grant opportunities that have application deadlines in the April -June timeframe. Future steps for
financial planning will focus on ensuring our resources are allocated effectively to support on -going and
future projects and maintaining KMB's fiscal health.
Free Trees from Subaru
Neil Rhein, Director of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful, contacted KMB about the offer of free trees from
the Patriot Subaru North Attleboro business. The business is tied to the national Subaru/ Arbor Day
Foundation (ADF) Tree Program. The trees were being stored at the Fruit Sheet facility but were moved
to Ana Newell's. Ana is working with the DPW on possible planting dates. At least two of the trees will
be planted at the Jordan Jackson School's pollinator garden which is an AaS site and is being cared for by
Kara Desroche and the "Friends of Jordan Jackson" families.
Traffic Light Box Wrap
Pat Colbert contacted the vendor (Cool Air Creations from Smithfield, RI) to follow up on the suggestion
to take final measurements on the box at Hope and Pratt Sheets as one side of the box is not smooth. Pat
will work with Kevin Neff, vendor contact, and Karen Reardon, designer, to ensure the final wrap design
has good resolution. Pat will also work with Ana Newell to obtain the vendor's invoice on wrap costs.
The cost is projected to be $795.
Mural Project
The restoration work on the mural is completed! The maintenance and cleanup are finished, and the mural
is varnished and sealed. The artist, Ian Gaudreau, added some people as well as sunset details to the sky
area, and expressed interest in giving a presentation on the mural. Kelly Kemp followed up with Ana
Newell to disburse the final payment to the artist as a work extension was required until 4 May 2025 to
complete all remaining tasks due to weather conditions. Kelly mentioned the possibility of having a
scavenger hunt activity to locate "Easter egg" items placed on the mural. Kelly plans to do a special social
media post about the mural completion closer to the August Incorporation Weekend activities. The
committee is most grateful to Kelly for her patience and persistence in bringing this challenging project to
a successful close for KMB.
Mural Illumination
At the January and February meetings, the committee discussed illuminating the mural and possibly the
Rte. 106 embankment area as part of the town's August Incorporation Weekend celebration activities.
There is a "Spirits Crawl" planned for the Friday evening of that weekend (August 22-24). The thought
was that any excess funds in the mural account might possibly be used to help defray the costs of mural
lighting.
Jeff Ward reported that Mansfield Electric was working with a vendor electrician on lighting options.
Proposal costs for the lighting were 18K, 30K and 80K. The costs of the lighting are much larger than
expected and well beyond the funding KMB can contribute to the project. Before moving forward with
the illumination idea, Mansfield Electric will need to discuss available options with the BOS to gain
funding approvals. Given the town's current budgetary constraints, it is highly unlikely the illumination
can be done for the August celebration activities. Jeff Ward will continue to follow any progress made on
this subject.
KMB Contributions to the 250th Anniversary Celebration Activities
• Downtown 250" Flower Barrel Flags - KMB purchased flags with the 250" celebration logo for
the downtown flower barrels. Janice Wiavigg placed the flags in the downtown flower barrels
before the parade on May 17°i. Many of the new flags disappeared shortly after the parade —
likely taken as souvenirs of the event. Janice will place the American flags in the barrels for Flag
Day and July 4"i. We may place the remaining 250°' flags out for the August activities.
KM 3 Parade Participation - KMB Committee members and approximately 30 volunteers
marched near the tail end of the parade on 17°' May to increase KMB awareness. It was fun and
great PR for KMBI The KMB marchers dispensed some yellow volunteer T-shirts and green
reusable bags to onlookers along the parade route. The T-shirts were a huge hit with the crowd.
Marchers had sponsor signs, yellow bags and grabbers. The kids, who were delighted with the
grabbers, were cleaning up while marching along the route.
• Downtown Painted Barrels - Kelly Kemp coordinated with Andy Littig (DPW) to ensure the 8
newly painted barrels were distributed along the route. The committee needs one barrel painted
with the 250" logo dedicated to the Family Fun Night activities. Kelly was going to follow up on
the location of the new barrels post parade. Memorial Park needs replacements as at least one
barrel is rusted out.
• Quilt Update — KMB left an embroidered square with our logo at Parks & Rec for the town's
250111 quilt project. Martha O'Connell will try to learn quilt status.
• August Event Activities —Jeff Ward will reach out to Nancy Griffin to inquire about any
opportunities available for KMB to engage in the upcoming celebration events.

2025 KMB Annual Fall Rolling Cleanup Event
The dates for the annual rolling cleanup event are scheduled to take place on November 1-15, 2025.
The decision was made to leave the cleanup materials at Pat Colbert's for distribution to participants. Pat
mentioned how easy it is having the event participants pick up materials at her residence — a self -serve
type operation that works well. Requests for the smaller sized trash bags were made by some event
participants and KMB will order some for the Fall event.
Pat will arrange to have the Fall Cleanup banner raised over Rte. 106 to announce the event and sign up.
Kelly Kemp will place a sign-up sheet on the website and Pat Colbert will send info to the Precinct
Leaders.
Family Fun Night
KMB is registered for Family Fun Night that will be held on Tuesday, July 15" from 6pm - 9pm. Set up
for the event starts at 5:00 p.m. FFN is a rain or shine event. Pat Colbert requested the same booth
location KMB had in past years, in front of the Bluestone Bank parking lot. It's a great location since
volunteers can park their cars in the public parking lot.
This year KMB will host one kid-fi•iendly game along with some non-food, sustainable prizes. Kara
Desroche volunteered to oversee this effort — many thanks, Kara! The committee voted to appropriate up
to $200 for spending on prizes. Kara will send prize options out for committee members' feedback before
purchases are made.
KMB will continue to offer as much available logo merchandise as possible: T-shirts, water bottles, mural
mugs, reusable bags (not all - make sure enough for fall/spring cleanup), and watering cans. T-shirts,
water bottles, and mural mugs will be for a donation. The watering cans will cost $20. We will also offer
brochures and sign-up sheets for our programs.
Pat Colbert will send out a schedule. Below is a list of needed items/people responsible. Please let Pat
know how and when you can assist so she can finalize the schedule.
Needed Items/People Responsible
1. Retrieve the following items from the storage unit and deliver them by 5p.m. to the booth location.
Return items at event end to the storage unit - Mike/Jeff/Pat
Pat Colbert will go to the storage unit beforehand and label things that need to go to Family Fun Night to
make it easier for setup/breakdown. This avoids bringing everything to site and makes setup and
breakdown easier.
• tent
• tablecloth
• three 6-foot folding tables (make sure they are the larger tables and not the smaller ones)
• brochures
• water bottles (if there are any leftovers)
• reusable bags (will only put out some of these so we have enough for future cleanups)
• mural mugs (if there are any leftovers)
• 2 boxes of the watering cans (will initially put out 8 watering cans that can be purchased for $20 -
$25)
• small wooden table (for painted barrel)

Recycle Education Project — New Ideas
Jeff Ward received an inquiry fi•om 8" Grade Qualters Middle School student and soccer player, Olivia
Robinson, on what KMB is doing for recycling education. Olivia was working on a survey for her 81
Grade Civics Class. Jeff told Olivia he would bring up the topic for discussion at our KMB meeting.
In the past, KMB did recycling education in the Mansfield schools. Pat Colbert did a summer education
session at the local camp last July and will do another session this summer upon request. Recycling
textiles is sometimes a challenge as opportunities to recycle certain items have become more limited.
There is a redemption center at Forbes Blvd for recycling. Cat Man Cafe saves their used cans and bottles
for recycling and donates.
Tobey Lovett offered to follow up with Olivia about her project. There may be some new ideas for
recycling education opportunities the committee can discuss at our 2026 strategy meeting.
We Noticed!
The committee discussed the possibility of nominating Mansfield Shredding for this year's award. Kelly
Kemp will prepare a nomination sheet for FFN nominations from the public. Voting on the website will
take place June -July timeframe. A decision on a winner will be announced in November.
Downtown Flower Barrel Program
Pat Colbert met with Alan at Patrick Lyons Nursery and the Angel Begonias will be ready for planting in
the next 2 weeks. Mike Healey is having surgery soon and since he's so instrumental in our successful
plantings, Pat may need additional support when it's time to replant the barrels.
TRAIN STA Sign and Barrier
The signage and barrier at the train station location were originally put in place by the Clemmey Family.
Ana Newell reported that the signage and barrier are finally removed!
Adopt -a -Spot
No updates on any new site adoptions.
Litter Busters
Samsonite Corporation performed a cleanup prior to the April Spring cleanup. Jeff Ward sent a "Thank
You" to Samsonite for their participation and continued efforts in supporting this volunteer project. Kelly
Kemp sent a mention to the town newsletter and did a post to the town's website.
Graffiti, etc.
Janice W iavigg recently mentioned unsightly graffiti on the underpass of the train bridge and burned -out
pg. 5
lamp light in front of the mural. These should be brought to DPW attention for remediation. The train
bridge is likely the responsibility of the MTA.
KMB Clean Community Award Ceremony
The KMB Clean Community Awards event was scheduled for 28 May at the Village Hall in Framingham.
Jeff Ward and Josh Reinke could not attend to represent KMB. An award was to be presented to Josh
Reinke as KMB nominated the DPW as the Mansfield Municipal Partner of the Year. Josh appreciated
the award. Due to budgetary constraints, DPW cannot be as responsive to KMB requests. They are on
board to help with the Fall cleanup in November. Jeff Ward mentioned that Josh needs to receive copies
of our KMB newsletters.
KMB Meeting Dates for 2025
Next meeting dates TBA. Jeff Ward will send proposed upcoming dates to committee members for
confirmation.
