Administrative Reports:
Superintendent Michelle McKeon provided an update on fall activities. Athletics had strong runs into the playoffs
but all are done now except for the annual Thanksgiving football game with Foxboro. Our quiz show team has
been selected as one of seventeen teams to compete in the WGBH Quiz Bowl. More information will follow
throughout the winter. QMS wrapped up their 3rd successful cross-country season with strong performances by
our students. MSBA update: The MA School Building Authority has moved Mansfield's request to replace the J/1
roof to the next phase. This work will be part of the Accelerated Repair Program. In July, further evaluation, plans
and reviews will take place. If approved to continue, we will go to the citizens at Town Meeting for approval to go
forward. Mansfield must commit to the full amount and then will be reimbursed approximately half of the cost.
Lastly, Superintendent McKeon is happy to report that Bluestone Bank has awarded us a $5000 grant to pursue the
purchase of audio and video equipment in support of the MHS Buzz program. This will allow us to set up a small
studio for our students.
Assistant Superintendent Amy Bright updated the committee on the first English Language Parent Advisory
Committee (ELPAC) and first EL family night. She thanked all of the staff who worked toward this evening.
Approximately 15 families attended. Some of the board members have been chosen while others remain open
with some interested candidates. Further elections will be held at the next meeting in January. Asa reminder we
have approximately 125 EL students currently in our district. Professional Development on 11/4/25 included
elementary school work on the Wonders Literacy program focusing on small group instruction. Our art, music, and
physical education staffs attended focused development for their specialties.
Assistant Superintendent Jessica Davis reported on professional development for our special education staff.
There was a wide variety of targeted instruction for each school including social thinking and motor skills at Roland
Green; ELA instruction, partnering paraprofessionals / teachers and accommodations at QMS; coteaching and
specialized instruction at MHS; diabetes care for our district nurses.
Ms. Davis also provided an update on the revised paraprofessional evaluation tool. As a result of paraprofessional
negotiations, a subcommittee was formed to review and enhance the existing document. The new plan is more
streamlined and transparent. The district will seek school committee approval next week. Highlights of changes
are:
• Scaling back the lengthy verbiage and removing comments at each section
• Revising language for standards 2 and 3
• Deleting the score of Exemplary for all standards.
• All paras will review this at the beginning of the year and choose one standard

Staff members who are new, on probation or have received Needs Improvement will meet on progress
multiple times per year. All others will meet at the end of the year to review progress to their chosen
goal.
• One comment box is now at the end of the document.
Superintendent McKeon noted that the bargaining unit has seen and ratified the changes. Mr. Schoonveld notec
that training was a big issue for our paras during negotiations. However, this document does not detail how the
teachers will be trained. Assistant Superintendent Davis noted that paras work under the guidance of a teacher
who meets regularly with the paras regarding individual student needs and the district provides training. There is
not specific planning time set up during the week. Mr. Schoonveld asked if the paras could use TeachPoint. Yes,
the next steps would be to put this evaluation tool on TeachPoint and then provide training. Superintendent
McKeon noted that the district is looking into the creation of a steering committee to discuss professional
development options including digital solutions that may offer individualized training.
Director Matt Violette provided an update on our first quarter financials- The district is tracking as expected early
in the year. Steve Schoonveld reminded all that any transfers between cost centers must go to the school
committee. He commended Matt on the presentation of information. Matt then discussed the FY27 budget
planning. A draft presentation has been created and will be reviewed with the budget subcommittee before going
before the school committee on 12/2. Steve recommended that the presentation address decreasing enrollment
but increasing costs. Lynn Cavicchi noted that the presentation was modified to include comments made at recent
listening sessions.

Consideration of Policy revision: IKF High School Competency Requirements
Superintendent McKeon provided an introduction and noted that she anticipates bringing this back again next year
for changes that will be made for the class of 2027 and beyond. Assistant Superintendent Bright reviewed the
detailed changes. Lynn Cavicchi followed up with some of the logic behind the changes including looking at other
districts. We need to define mastery and measurable goals and reference grading policies. DESE states that
districts may use some 81h grade math courses as part of the fulfillment. Lynn recommended that this policy be
split into two: IKF Graduation Requirements and IKFE Competency Determination. Lynn will work with Amy to
make these modifications. Approval postponed to next meeting.
Consideration of High School Nurse Appointment
Per MA General Law, School committees appoint all school nurses. Superintendent McKeon provided information
on Jacqueline Lattanzio's resume, background and interview process.
Motion to appoint Jacqueline Lattanzio, R.N. to the position of High School Nurse effective December 1, 2025 by
Jen Sellon / Steve Schoonveld.
Motion carries 5 — 0.
Consideration of new job description: Monitor
Director Matt Violette noted that we do not have a job description for this role and Human Resources is going
through job descriptions to bring them up to date. All monitors were grouped together as we need flexibility in
hiring and placing staff where most needed. Steve Schoonveld asked if there should be a separate job description
for MHS. The district will review. Jen Sellon asked if the new salary law requires us to put salaries on the
descriptions. Salary ranges will be on job postings but not job descriptions. confidentiality, qualifications,
preferred qualifications and description of physical requirements need to be added. There were some questions
that led to postponing this to a future meeting. Will follow up with Jocelyn LeMaire.
Consideration of School Resource Office Memorandum of Understanding
Superintendent McKeon and Police Chief Ron Sellon provided answers to any questions. There was no change
from last year's MOU. Mr. Schoonveld asked if the plan will always be to split the salaries between the town and
the school. Ms. Cavicchi noted that the first SRO came out of the town budget and when the district requested a
second, it came out of the school budget. Dr. McKeon noted that we cannot predict future budget allocations.
One typo was noted.
Motion to approve the School Resource Office MOU for 2025-2026 by Jen Sellon / Steve Schoonveld
Motion carries 5 — 0.
School Committee Business:
Chair Jenn Walsh updated the committee on negotiation appointments. Jen Sellon and Jenn Walsh will participate
in MEA negotiations while Diane Ready will be on the negotiating team for special education bus drivers. The
ground rules for the MEA are complete and negotiations will start in January.
School Committee Questions and Comments:
Steve Schoonveld made note of two concerns from parents. First, he has received calls asking the committee to
take a look at school start times as there are concerns over the early start. Second, he has had another complaint
from a parent regarding the return of student work especially for students on IEPs.
Other- Items not anticipated by the Chair 48 hours prior to this meeting: None
