Minutes of the Mansfield Historical Commission Meeting— I

Attendance: Giampaolo DiGregorio(Chair), Annette Shaw, Eileen Cusack, Dan
Cavicchi and Nancy Breef-Pilz. Guests: Kevin McNatt
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM by the chairperson.
Minutes: Minutes from September 30, 2024 were reviewed. Motion was made
by Annette to accept as read; seconded by Dan. Motion was unanimous.
MACRIS Project: Dan reviewed the need to update the MACRIS listings for
Mansfield. Since our job as a commission is to preserve Mansfield's resources,
we must first find out what we have. Each member will take an area in town to
visit the places that are listed to see if they still exist and are accurate. Make
note of recommendations for additions to the MACRIS listing. Nancy will check
with the Massachusetts Historical Commission for the updating process.
Mansfield's Master Plan: The town's Master Plan specifies our responsibilities
as a commission to identify Mansfield's historical assets and to develop a
preservation plan for the town. All members should have a copy of the Master
Plan so we can refer to it.
Historical Commission Membership: There are currently two vacancies.
Please encourage people you know to become involved. Paolo will contact
Mansfield Cable to post the opening.
250th Celebration: A quilt to commemorate the Sestercentennial will be made
with squares gathered from groups and individuals. Motion was made by Eileen
for the Historical Commission to sponsor a quilt square using an illustration of the
Fisher -Richardson House; seconded by Nancy. Motion unanimous.
Paolo suggested that the Commission sponsor a program during the celebration
this year. We could feature the Mansfield buildings listed on the National
Registry in a video to be shown on Cable TV. Another idea was a speaker/tour of
the Card Memorial Chapel. More discussion will follow at our next meeting.
2025 Meeting Schedule: Meetings were tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays:
May 20 and June 17.
Adjournment: Motion was made by Eileen to adjourn the meeting at 8:25 PM;
seconded by Dan. Motion unanimous.
