Additional Financial Notes • KMB, has received $4,400 to date from 2025 fundraising efforts vs, receiving only $1250 in 2024. • Ana Newell spoke with Geno's owner about the outstanding balance due for 2024 flower barrels. The owner will include the past payment with his 2025 order. • Non -Profit Gift Fund grant requests will be open from 4 February 2025 through the end of June. Funds are distributed.in July. Consider submitting a funding request for, light illumination of the mural,AaS,projects. • Jeff Ward will present to the Select Board KMB's Budget Recap on 16 April 2025 Fundraising Donor List Ana Newell posted the Fundraising List spreadsheet with donation amounts on Google Drive. The largest donation was $1,000. from Mansfield Shredding, and $500.00 was received from JP Bookkeeping. KMB will consider recognizing large donors (amounts of $500+) at the cleanup picnic as it did in the past. Ana will work with Janice Wivagg on" Thank You" acknowledgements for donations. Traffic Light Box Wrap Pat Colbert presented the late§t 3D option designed by Karen Reardon for the traffic, light box at the Rte. 106 and Hope Street intersection. The wrap design includes vibrant pansies - a signature of KMB's spring downtown flower barrels. More yellow pansies were interspersed with the purple and reddish florals. The KMB logo is now placed near the bottom of the wrap on the side that faces traffic heading on Rte. 106 toward the Easton line„There was a past, discussion regarding the possible placement of the Town, of , Mansfield Seal on the design. The committee decided to omit that seal as it detracts from the design. If we learn it will be required, Karen can place the seal on the, back of the wrap. The committee members voted - to accept the latest design so we, can move the project forward and get the wrap installed for the 25V Anniversary, activities. The vepdor f Cool Air Creations from Smithfield, RI) suggested taking final measurements on the box, as, one side..of the box is not smooth. The vendor will. charge for travel to the site. This charge is not included in the price of the wrap creation and installation ($900- $1,000).; The committee members voted to accept and fund the additional travel costs (approx. $125). Pat will work with Ana Newell and the vendor to obtain an invoice for the travel costs associated with measurement. Karen Reardon and Pat Colbert will likely plan to meet the vendor rep at the site on the scheduled measurement day. Karen wants to ensure a clean design resolution. Martha O'Connell completed and submitted the application form and letter required by the Select Board for design approval. Pat Colbert and Martha will work through Nancy Griffin to obtain approval from the: Town Manage%, The Select Board'will meet on April 16 to review the application for approval. Pat will be at the'meeting along with Jeff. Free Trees Neil Rhein, Director of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful; contacted KMB about the offer of free trees from Patriot,Subaru North Attleboro,;T, ie businessis tied to the national Subaru/ Arbor Day Foundation (ADF) Tree Program. Subaru purchased 100 trees, native to our climate,;that ire being delivered between April 7-11. The trees are '2% 4' tall and ready to plant. There are approximately 40 trees that can be split amongst 4 townj. Ana Newell volunteered to take the lead on this for our committee. Ana will need to coordinate with Neil and the town regarding any location and placement of the trees. Mansfield is scheduled to receive I I trees. The varieties are Oak, Maple, Red Bud and Winterberry. Sites that were discussed by the committee for placement included: the JJ pollinator garden, Memorial Park, Rte. 106 embankment, Fulton's Pond and bike path. Kara DesRoche is adopting the JJ pollinator garden and thinks the site can use'2 trees for shade. Watering young, trees during the fast year is a concern. Committee members will send Ana any ideas'on tree placement for! consideration. The trees are scheduled for pickup on 16 April. Mural Project - See update from Kelly on latest developments There is $7,500'left in the project budget and the remaining work will be scheduled for completion as soon as the weather permits. Kelly Kemp reached out to the artist for a timeline to complete the remaining work. Originally $5k of the remaining funds were slated to fund the additional new artwork/full mural revamish. The remaining $3k could be used to cover the costs of any necessary future touch-up work on any new vandalized areas of the mural as well as any new future artworkAny remaining funds could revert into the mural account for future mural: maintenance. Since the committee wants the project finished before some of the events tied to the town's 250th Anniversary commence, the committee discussed getting the total revamish job completed without adding any new artwork to the mural. The extra artwork might have included adding any logo or acknowledgement of the 2501hAnniversary to the mural. The committee discussed using a plaque or some alternative to acknowledge the mural refresh in conjunction with the 2501 Anniversary instead of adding a logo or art. This will help ensure the remaining mural work is ready'for display promptly. Going forward, Kelly and Jeff Ward will work together on corresponding with the artist to get the remaining work completed. At the January and February meetings, the committee also discussed illuminating the mural and possibly' the Rte. 106 embankment area as part of the town's August Incorporation Weekend celebration activities. There is a "Spirits Crawl" planned for the Friday evening of that weekend (August 22-24). Any excess funds in the'mural could possibly be used to defray the costs of the'mural lighting. Jeff Ward recently met with Joe of Mansfield Electric to discuss the company's possible assistance with the mural lighting needs. While the company cannot help with low -voltage electricity, it can assist with lighting ideas and options. Jeff will look at the mural site soon with Mansfield Electric reps' The cost of the lighting needs to be ' considered by the committee to move forward with the'illunn ation idea. The committee should' consider applying to the Non -Profit Gift Fund for the mural lighting costs once a cost e'stimate is known. ' KMB Contributions to the 250!h Anniversary'Celebra ion Nancy Griffin attended our KMB meeting in February and we discussed possible activities/items that KMB can contribute to the 250" Committee. The following ideas were proposed and are being worked on by the conunittee; • Mural Restoration — KMB will coordinate with artist Ian Gaudreau once the weather, improves to apply the final protective varnish. See the Mural Project notes section in this, document for more details. • Mural Illumination Event - Provide mural/106 embankment lighting for the August celebration' weekend. Hopefully, KMB can fund the costs of lighting required and Mansfield Electric will" assist as they are able. The committee discussed showcasing the illumination during the August Friday night "Spirits Crawl". KMB may ask Ian,Gaudreau to attend the illumination. Jeff has met with the Electric Company and others regarding the cost to`illuminate de MuraC It is too'early to decide if we will be able to pay for it, based on the estimates Jeff has communicated with the electric department. Jeff will continue to meet with them and hopefully get a final estimate soon. • Downtown 2501° Flower Barrel Flags - KMB will purchase flags with the 250' celebration logo for the downtown flower barrels. Extra flags may be used for other celebration activities. Pat Colbert and Kara DesRoche will continue to research' and obtain quotes for the flags. The costs vary depending on the logo and wood vs, plastic stick. A motion to approve a $300.00 expense for the flags was presented by Jeff and seconded by Kelly. • Downtown Parade Participation - KMB Committee members and volunteers hope to march near the tail end of the parade on 171" May to increase KMB awareness. The parade lineup will begin at 9:30 am until 10:15 am, and the parade will start at 11:00 am. KMB may reach out to some Spring Cleanup participants to invite them to march with us. • Downtown Barrel - Paint a 250th-themed barrel for signing on Family Fun Night. See the section on Painted Barrels for more details. • 250" Quilt Square — KMB will provide a KMB logo-themed quilt square for the 2501 quilt being sponsored by the Cultural Council. Martha O'Connell picked up the instruction packet at Park & Rec and will get the quilt square processed with the KMB logo and return to Town Hall, • KMBSpring Cleanup Picnic (Saturday, April 26th) - KMB offered to engage residents and spread the word on the250th celebrations via a display table at the picnic on South Common. Other celebration discussion items included: • Downtown Business Window Painting - Sue Feeley from Sue's Cleaners was heading up this effort for the 250' Committee in conjunction with MHS Art Dept. Although the idea might tie in with our KMB "We Noticed" Program, KMB members cannot commit to helping with this effort at this time as our committee is focused on our upcoming Spring/Summer program initiatives. Trash Can Be Beautiful - Painted Barrels Since the timeframe for a formal event at the DPW facility is likely not a viable option at this time, Kelly Kemp has reached out to several groups to get these barrels delivered and painted off -site. She will be coordinating with Andy Littig (DPW) to get the barrels primed in white and to get the barrels distributed on 5 April. As of today, there are 8 barrels committed. The timeframe given to the group for completion is 15 May. The committee would like barrels to be painted with the theme dedicated to the town's250'" Anniversary for the Family Fun Night activities. 2025 KMB Annual Spring Cleanup Event The date for ,the spring event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 26 April 2025. The South Common location was approved for the picnic, and the committee will also use the site for late registrants who require a cleanup route on the day of the event. There will be a route map available for assignments, and Pat and Kara volunteered to help with the late registrants. Kelly Kemp and Danielle Dupre will set up the website to have late registrants go to the common for cleanup assignments. Pat sent emails to all precinct leaders to remind them to contact previous participants for sign-up. Ana will lead Precinct 7 this year since Deb Snyder will be on vacation during that time. The committee decided that all supplies (T-shirts, bags, gloves, vests, grabbers) will be at Pat's house. All participants can pick up their supplies from Pat's porch beginning Thursday, April 23rd, and they will be available for 24 hours until Saturday, April 26th. Kelly Kemp opened participant registrations on the website and will announce it on other social media platforms and in the March Newsletter. Pat Colber sent emails out to recruit the town sports teams. - Kelly Kemp also contacted the photographer we used at last year's picnic to request his availability. Jeff Ward plans to acknowledge Tom at the picnic event for his photo contributions. Jeff will coordinate with Josh Reinke, DPW, and MEMA. Kelly will contact Park & Rec about the availability of the large outdoorgames so that the games can get delivered to the picnic site. Jeff Ward will check the availability of the wireless we use at the Fulton's Pond picnic. He contacted Cousins Pizza about providing pizza for the picnic once we get better participant numbers. Mike and Jeff will set up at 8:00 am. The tent and the tables will be picked up from the storage facility. Kara will bring an additional table. Pat Colbert ordered the event banner to be displayed over Rte. 106 during the 2 weeks before the cleanup date. Pat ordered T-shirts for $2,970.00. We hope some participants will recycle and wear their old T- shirts. Danielle Dupre will pass her key to the storage site to someone on the committee while she is on leave. 24 Flyers for the cleanup were printed by Allegra. Flyers were distributed at the meeting. Members volunteered to post them at various locations around town. Kelly Kemp will have signs printed for donors over $500.00. Ana Newell purchased 300 pairs of gloves for $128.88. Danielle Dupre mentioned that the MHS Marching Band will volunteer at this year's cleanup. A suggestion was made to get the members to register online. Depending on the volunteer numbers, we may need more food, snacks, etc. Mike Healey got the food permit. He also got water from Shaw's and Stop & Shop, as well as some volunteer help. Kelley Kemp offered to purchase the snacks needed. Theresa Rhein and Kara will be at food tent. If needed, other KMB members will help as well. Danielle and Kelly are not available on the day of the event. We Noticed! _ No new updates as of 8 April 2025. Downtown ,Flower Barrel Program Pat Colbert ordered 125 pansy plants from Patrick Lyons Nursery for, the downtown spring flower barrel program. Pat sent email notices for barrel commitment to the usual downtown business participants in March. This year the pansies will be planted on 9 April 2025 at the Fruit Street storage location. The barrels and soil will be inspected and replaced if necessary. The DPW will be placing the barrels'on 14 April 2025. The cost of each flower barrel will remain at $60 for the season: Pansies will be replaced mid -season with Angel Begonias. Business owners will be encouraged to pay when the pansy barrels are installed. TRAIN STA Sign and Barrier The signage and a barrier at the train station location were put in place by the Clemmey Family, and Ana Newell reported that the family had not yet removed the barrier due to winter weather. Ana Will follow up with Elizabeth Clemmey. Adopt -a -Spot Kara Hanks, along with others, will be adopting the Butterfly Garden at the Jordan Jackson School. Still available Garden on West Sheet and the Happy Hollow location, Adopt -a -Street Danielle will continue to monitor the site while on maternity leave.
