The current contract with the mural artist will need to be amended. Kelly will also reach out to Mansfield Electric to investigate lighting options and costs: Consider: applying to Non -Profit Gift Fund for lighting costs. 2026 Spring Cleanup Event The date for the spring event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 26'April 2025. The committee voted on the picniclocation and decided on South Common for visibility and location convenience to'Town Hall. KMB was not able to use the South Common location for the 2024 picnic as there was a conflict with another event, Jeff Ward will file paperwork to secure the event date and location which must be completed and filed with Town Hall by the end of January, The committee will discuss event; logistics at our:next meeting. We Noticedl Kara Desroche and Kelly Kemp presented the 2024 award•#o the new business EpEx on North Main for their Halloween window display. Kelly posted photos on social media. Kelly and Kara would Ake to expand the program and possibly get the local Cable channel to cover presentations. The committee is considering recognizing local businesses throughout the calendar year. Seasonal, photos; can be taken and posted on various social media sites. Kara Desroche mentioned how festive some of the downtown businesses looked for the winter holidays. Taking photos and tagging the.businesses may help promote business awareness and activity. Providing opportunities for residents to:vote on their favorite photos and locations were discussed.Yurther discussion program enhancement is needed Downtown Flower Barrel Program Pat Colbert ordered 125 pansy plants from Patrick Lyons Nursery for the downtown spring flower barrel program. Pat will send notices for barrel commitment to the usual downtown business participants in February. Cost of each barrel will remain at $60 for the season and the pansy flowers will be replaced mid -season with Angel Begonias. ci Adopt -a -Spot Ana Newell previously reported that the AaS site on N Main across from theng Dumill no longer;be maintained by Driven Landscapes. !Ana+will, perform site cleanup and provide new plants as the warmer, weather, permits. She will post ian "Adopt:Me" sign once site cleanup is completed. The committee discussed possibly doing something special atthis site for the250th celebration parade to be held on 17 May as it is on the parade route. A suggestion was made to ask current AaS garden caretakers to plant something special in their gardens as a nod to the celebration activities. Gladiolas were popular in Mansfield's history. The Garden Club is planning to do something using the gladiola theme in their q1 gardens for the celebration. More discussion about options is needed. The pollinator.garden at Jordan,Jackson School still needs to be adopted, Ana Newell received grant funding fbi new garden and arranged the prep and planting activities this past Fall. KMB,hoped to pet an item about the new garden, posted in the school newsletter, Karp Desroche, is p member of the school's MSA organization and will follow upon the newsletter article. Kara will also work through the j SA and try to get soln istudent families to adopt the site. Follow up or this item is needed,,, pg. 4 Additional Financial Notes • Ana Neweltsent invoices to the three businesses downtown who had outstanding balances due for the 2024 Downtown Flower Barrel Programs Jodice & Sons, Inc. on=N Main paid balance due. Geno's and BarberShop balances are still outstanding. Outstanding balances for the unpaid businesses will be added to their flower barrel costs for the 2025 spring barrels. Funds are distributed in July. Consider submitting a funding request. Letter for Additional/Alternate KMB Board Members A motion was made by Mike Healey and seconded by Ana Newell at the September KMB meeting to pursue additional Board Members/Alternates. Ana Newell finalized the committee`approved letter and gave it to Jeff Ward to sign and send it to the Select Board for approval. No response was received from the'BOS'as of 1/21/2025.: After many years of volunteer service, Mike Healey resigned from the KMB Committee effective 12/31/2024. He plans to attend meetings as a non -voting guest as his schedule permits. He still plans to assist KMB with the downtown flower barrels. His assistance with this particular project has been critical to the program's success. We are most grateful to Mike for the assistance and countless hours he's given to many of our KMB programs. We look forward to his continued participation. Annual Town Report Jeff Ward worked with Neil Rhein to prepare the KMB information for the town's annual report which is due 1/31/2025. Jeff requested the committee members to send him any updated photos, thatimight be included so the report can be finalized. TRAIN STA Sign and Barrier The signage'and a barrier at the train stationdocation were put in place by the Clemmey Fainhy and Ana Newell reported that the'family had not yet removed the barrier. Removal maybe delayed due to winter: weather. Ana will follow-up on the barrier removal when weather conditions rimprove as well as reach out to Elizabeth Clemmeyaboutpotentially adopting the site in spring:, Mural Project There is $8k left in the project budget and the'remaining work `will 'be scheduled for'completion in spring as soon as the weather permits. Originally, $5k of the remaining funds was slated to fund the additional art/full mural revarnish and the remaining $3k could be used to cover the costs of any future necessary touch-up work on Vandalized areas of the mural as well as any new future artwork. Those remaining finds' won'Id revert into the "mural account for possible future'maintenance.' Since the committee would like to get the project finished before man`'events tied to the town''' 250th anniversary occur, the' committee discussed getting any major touch-ups as well'ag'the Complete revamish job completed without adding new artwork to the mural. This would help ensure the mural would be ready for the town's celebration. pg.3 ENEEMMMMMMMM♦ e / Litter Busters No new updates.' Trash Can Be Beautiful - Painted Barrels The primed white trash barrel across from the Catman Cafe on Old Colony still needs pickup and `delivery; as Pat Colbert volunteered to paint the barrel over the winter months. Weather prevented earlier pickup. The committee would like to host another painted barrel event this spring. Barrel inventory will be needed as we can only replenish existing barrel supply. Kelly Kemp will coordinate with Josh Reinke (DPW Director) for possible date/time options. The committee would like to get one barrel painted with the theme dedicated to the town's 25011 anniversary. Suggestions were made to reach out to Kristi Johnson to see if she is interested in taking on this project. Pat Colbert and Kelly will follow up. Fundraising Letters Jeff Ward and Neil Rhein made the final fundraising letter edits. Allegra printed and folded copies to facilitate the prep for mailing. The committee spent part of the December2024 meeting in a working session labeling the envelopes and personalizing and stuffing the letters. Jeff Ward mailed the personalized/signed letters on 1/6/2025. Jeff thanked committee members for their, ,elp in making this, important initiative happen and for making the process much more efficient. Fingers crossed some donations will be received this year. We know we have competition with the Sestercentennial Celebration, but Jeff remains optimistic. Traffic Box Wrap Pat Colbert will reach out once more to inquire if Karen Reardon will design a wrap for the traffic box at Rte. 106 and Hope Street. Based on Karen's response, we will need to seek other options so the design can be voted on by our committee and taken to Town Manager and BOS for approval. Eileen Cusack provided the box measurements which are located in the KMB folder on the Google drive The wrap vendor requires 1-2 weeks' notice prior to installation. If we want to get the wrap installed by the 2501h celebration parade in May, we need to make decisions soon. Town of Mansfield's 250th Celebration Activities for the anniversary are planned for the 17th of May (Downtown Parade), weekend of 23rd August celebrations (Incorporation Day weekend) and October Gala (date TBA). Ideas were proposed as to how KMB can partner and participate. More discussion required. • Provide mural/embankment lighting for August celebrations. • Provide a donation towards pole banners for downtown. • Participate by marching near the tail end of the parade to increase KMB awareness. Reach out to spring clean-up participants to invite them to march with us. Perhaps do `Save the Date' through Precinct Leaders. • Decorate the downtown business windows on the parade route. Requires coordination with schools' Art Department and funding of supplies. • Purchase themed sticks (hornets, geese, ducks) to insert into flower barrels on parade route. • Paint a 2501 themed barrel. • Provide a 2501 themed flower arrangement or cake. pg. 5 KMB Meeting Dates for 2025 Jeff Ward sent the proposed meeting dates to committee members for the 2025 calendar.
