Mansfield Superintendent Search Advisory Committee Meeting
Minutes for Thursday, January 23, 2025
Please share a specific example from your previous experience where you successfully demonstrated your
approach.
Please provide specific examples of data -informed decision -making methods from your leadership experience that
build an inclusive learning environment to ensure all students are supported academically, socially, and
emotionally. Include how you establish practices to ensure that teachers and staff are using data effectively and
consistently to drive student outcomes.
For a number of years Mansfield has followed a philosophy of "One Town —One Budget". This approach requires
strong collaborations among town departments, including the public schools. Please describe any experience you
have setting operating budget priorities, capital priorities, and multi -year fiscal plans in this type of environment.
How would you go about introducing yourself to our school community and the broader Mansfield community if
you were to become superintendent of the Mansfield Public Schools and how would you maintain that visibility
and approachability?
Please share an example from your past experiences where you successfully built and maintained positive
relationships with the School Committee, union leaders, municipal offices, local government officials, and the
broader community.
What specific strategies do you use to ensure clear, accessible, and transparent communication? Please share a
situation where you balanced differing opinions among stakeholders while maintaining transparency and ensuring
the best outcomes of the district.
Can you describe what your process would be in launching a new district initiative or project and how you would
work to build capacity to ensure that the goals/outcomes of the initiative are achieved?
What does Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mean to you, and what have you done to promote equity, diversity and
inclusion with students, families, and staff? How did you measure progress?
There are times when the district is challenged by situations where you need to call on every personal skill you
have and collaborate with everyone around you (for example, declining enrollment, aging facilities, and
demographic shifts, not to forget budget constraints.) Tell us how you approach such challenges.
Please describe a significant crisis or emergency you faced in a previous leadership role, and especially how you
prioritized the safety and well-being of the students and staff as well as the wider community. How did you
effectively delegate responsibilities to your team, fostering trust and empowering them to act decisively? In
hindsight, is there anything you would have done differently? If so, why?
Many students and family members experience mental health issues. What do you think the school's role
should be in supporting those students and their families? How can schools promote health development and
emotional strength of children as they learn?
What do you think are some of the core competencies our students need to master before they get to high school,
and also before they graduate? How can our curriculum offerings and policies reflect these ideas and, if needed,
what changes would you make to ensure they do?
What questions do you have for us?
