An Open Meeting/Workshop of the Man§Peld School Committee was held in person on Tuesday, December 10,
2024. The open meeting session was calledtt?rorclWby Cpaij §t��L Qoonveld at 6:35 p.m.

Consideration of Field Trip: MHS Percussion to Dayton, OH
Justin DeJoy, the Band Director at MHS presented the field trip information to the committee. The trip mimics
prior trips to the WGI Championships. ;Chaperones, financial information and itinerary were reviewed. Lynn
Cavicchi noted that the departure time is 5:00 AM which is earlier than our policy allows. The departure will be
changed to 6:00 AM. Financial aid will be available to those that need it.
Motion to approve the MHS Percussion trip to Dayton, OH by Jenn Walsh /Jenifer'Sellon.

Superintendent Search:

A draft with multiple options proposed. The committee suggested some edits and a final charge was identified. l

Lynnproposed changing the name of the committee to the Superintendent Search Advisory Committee to more
accurately reflect their role. Scope of work and other criteria will be discussed at the first search committee
meeting. 1

The Committee appointed Steve Schoonveld and Lynn Cavicchi to co-chair the committee.

The remaining 11 positions were reviewed. Jessica Davis has already been invited.'FinCom and Select Board will
identify their representatives next week. The committee then focused on the non -teaching staff member.'
Position was filled. Next administrators were addressed. After discussion of the candidates and how to round out
the committee, two candidates were chosen. The committee then selected a student from the candidates.The
MHS rep to the school committee will not be part of the search committee but will be a non -voting member of the ?
school committee for the final interviews. It was noted that one central office position opened up and the
committee agreed to convert that to a teacher position. Two teachers were chosen by reviewing the candidate
applications and balancing the make up of the committee. Lastly, parent/guardians were reviewed. There were
several applications to consider. Candidate applications were' considered along with proper balancing of the
committee. Two parents were chosen.
Pending positions: FinCom and Select Board.
Acceptance emails will be sent to candidates on Wednesday asking them to confirm their availability by Thursday
morning.' Once members have all accepted, emails will go to the candidates not chosen. The committee
discussed a possible conflict of interest document as presented by Steve. It was unclear if the form was needed;
Steve will reach out to the Town Clerk.

Discussion; What if someone backs out? The committee agreed that one of the candidates already reviewed could
be chosen by Lynn Cavicchi and Steve Schoonveld without coming back for a vote.
Amended Motion to approve the composition of the Superintendent Search Advisory Committee as discussed
with Lynn Cavicchi and Steve Schoonveld choosing a replacement if someone is unable to participate by Jenn
Walsh / JeniferSellon
