Mansfield School Committee Meeting
Minutes for Tuesday, October 29, 2024
An Open Meeting of the Mansfield School Committee was held in person at the Public Safety Building on Tuesday,
October 29, 2024. The open meeting session was called to order by Chair Steve Schoonveld at 6:02 p.m.

New Business: n
Preliminary discussion of superintendent search objectives: 1 rr i
A discussion among committee members covered areas including the activities over the next several months that a
new superintendent may observe. This included the negotiation of 4 union agreements, the budget discussions
and likely town vote, and the hiring of an assistant superintendent.
Presentation by MASC search committee representative:
Glenn Koocher, Executive Director of MASC arrived and presented the cost and task proposal for the
Superintendent Search. The committee asked follow up and clarification questions. (Attachment)
Presentation by NESDEC search committee representative:
David DeRuosi, Executive Director of NESDEC arrived and presented the cost and task proposal for the
Superintendent Search. The committee asked follow up and clarification questions. (Attachment)
Consideration to hire a consultant to lead the superintendent search:
The committee discussed their observations of the proposals presented and expressed their individual reasons for
their support. An email from school committee vice -chair Jen Sellon was read to the committee by Chair Steve
Schoonveld. It was decided that a vote would not be taken so that the vote could be made by all five committee
members and the vote could be documented by video recording.
Discussion of next steps:
A discussion to set up future meetings of the school committee was had with the following dates proposed:
Nov 7th
Nov 12th - scheduled school committee meeting
Nov 19th or 21st
Dec 17th

Other- Items not anticipated by the Chair 48 hours prior to this meeting:
Chair Schoonveld acknowledged that the members of the school committee have received the resignation letter
from superintendent Teresa Murphy with an intention to resign as of June 30, 2025.
