The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at Mansfield Airport.
Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve the minutes from August 20, 2024. Passes.
Shelter Maintenance
• Regarding the ongoing attempt to provide lighting for the dog play area, the least expensive
solution would be to install three floodlights.
Animal Control Officer's Report
• For volunteers' safety, and for appropriate dress in the presence of shelter visitors, Francesca
will create a dress code. Details of the dress code can be added to the volunteers' handbook
and volunteer application.
• From now on, cats that we take in as transfers from other shelters must be current with
vaccines, combo tested, and spayed or neutered if old enough.
• Gemma is a pregnant cat who has an owner, but Gemma will stay at the shelter while she has
kittens, and for eight weeks while the kittens are nursing.
• The shelter will no longer use Dr. Paul as a veterinarian, due to a breach of confidentiality
incident involving the cat Harley.
• Lights in the kennel and cattery will not use a dimmer. They will be turned on during the day,
and off during the night.
• Routine on -site shelter vet visits will be limited to once a week to reduce costs.
• ACOs Kaycee and Francesca are exploring ideas for fundraising events.
• A camera will be installed in Goose's kennel to observe his separation anxiety.

Cats
• The 7 Dwarfs kittens continues to have diarrhea. Sharon will treat them with coccidia
medication, and add a probiotic to their food.
• Stacy Howard will take Pretty Eyes for trap/spay/release.
