Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve the minutes from June 20, 2024. Passes.
Dogs
• Francesca reported that Scooby is a Mansfield dog that was found dumped outside of town.
He has settled in and is okay to walk.
• At the end of July Tiramisu legally became ours and available for adoption. She has an
approved application and will go home tomorrow (Friday, 8/16/2024)
• Francesca stated she received a call from an owner of an older dog named Roxy. She had
helped the owner out several months ago by helping to pay for allergy medications for Roxy.
The dog is again having issues and the owner is requesting help again to pay for medications.
Sharon stated that she would reach out and MSF could help him this time only.
• Francesca restated the importance of keeping Goose and Scooby away from other dogs in their
kennels to avoid kennel fighting. She restated the procedures she sent in email. There was
discussion regarding training on proper dog handling for volunteers and Carol said she would
look into what might be available online for volunteers to complete at home.
• Rolo and Lakota are okay to go outside in the large yard but MUST be monitored by at least
two volunteers at all times. They should not be walked as they are still a flight risk.
• Amy stated the shelter is low on martingale collars. Ana will order more.
Cats
• Francesca asked about Fullah's temperament and was informed that several volunteers have
been able to pet her and she has provided her belly for rubbing as well. Sharon suggested we
try her in a small playroom to see if the cage may be making her upset.
• Tammy reported that Darren went to his new home on Monday. There was a discussion of his
allergies. Both Carol and Erika know of the same pet allergist in Rhode Island that may be
able to help Darren. Carol will send Tammy the contact information.

Veterinarians
• Francesca wanted the AWC to be aware that there seems to be some "playing off of each other"
occurring between the vets at WAGS and Dr. Trapani. There was discussion regarding how
best to eliminate the competition. Ana mentioned that she will work to finalize what she is
referring to as the "In Shelter Vet Procedures" so that Dr. Trapani knows exactly what her
responsibilities at the shelter are to hopefully reduce the conflict.
Other
• Ana reminded everyone that the Celebration of Animals will be held on Sunday, September 15,
2024. Raffle baskets, books, scratch tickets and bake sale items are all needed. Sign-up sheets
will be placed at the shelter in the coming days and everyone is asked to recruit their
volunteers to help in any way possible.
• Francesca notified all that she will be out of the shelter from August 26 - September 6, 2024
for her wedding. Kaycee will be covering some of the time and Steve will be on -call when
Kaycee is not available. Francesca said she will be available by phone if needed but she is not
going out on calls or coming to the shelter.
Adjournment
• Adjourned at 6:47pm
