Meeting Minutes 5.20.2024
Present: Mr. Kevin Dumas, Town Manager, Chair, Ms. Martha O'Connell, Mr. Chris Jackson, Ms. Eileen
Cusack, and Mr. George Pantos
Not Present: Jack Cooney, Mr. Joe Cerretani
Guests: Mr. Chris McDermott, Economic Development Director and Mr. Josh Reinke, DPW Director

1. Call to Order: The Downtown Committee was called to order at 5:42 PM by Chair, Mr. Kevin Dumas.
2. Acceptance of Minutes from March 25, 2024:
Motion: To adopt the meeting minutes of March 25, 2024. (Pantos/Cusack) Passes: 5:0
3. Update on the 250th Traffic Box
Eileen gave an update on the South Common traffic box. She stated that she thought it looks good and
the 2501h Anniversary Committee is happy with it. It is their hope that it will help them to promote the
celebration. She also noted that the committee will be starting its fundraising and merchandise kick-off
soon.
4. Update on construction at Harry Chace Place:
Mr. Dumas advised the committee that things are moving forward. The canopy is up. Mike Ahern is
overseeing the project. State gave $110,000 and project cost is $140,000. Project will be completed in
July. Mr. Pantos asked what is going under the canopy. Mr. Dumas advised that there would be tables,
benches, and informational/historical panels that include information about Mr. Harry Chase. Mr.
Dumas said there will be new signage as well. Ms. Cusack asked if there would be a dedication once it is
complete. Mr. Dumas said he thought it would be nice to honor Mr. Chase and the location officially. He
asked the committee to give him their suggestions for this dedication and consideration of invitees.
Ms. O'Connell gave the committee a quick update on the status of the mural project. She stated that
there has been a significant donation to help offset the costs, and the Keep Mansfield Beautiful
Committee will be doing some additional fundraising for any unforeseen costs outside of the contract.
She said they are hoping to get the artist under contract very soon so the project can get moving this
year.
