Need to keep in mind the flag policy set by the town to ensure we stay within those guidelines. Lynn lilted aline item in a Hopkinton policy that states: "School property is a non-public forum. The intent of advertising is to raise funds, not to promote public discourse or a point of view." Athletic Director Tim Selmon would like to offer advertising by the time the new gym and track/field are put to use. Other questions discussed were Who will own the process? What will rates be and what kind of rate structure is needed? How long will contracts last? What advertising spaces are available for use? Will banners be allowed on field fences? Does the Town of Mansfield have any policies on placing advertisements? To do: Research open items and re -group. Revolving Accounts: Following up on prior discussions and a draft proposal document by the business office, Lynn provided some suggestions for expansion. It is important to manage the governance of these funds especially with difficult budgets ahead. She suggested looking at the Wellesley policy and enhance what we have with some of the information. Their policy gets into some very detailed language on how the fund is managed and what will happen if it is too low or too high. Ed will review the Wellesley policy and look at possible changes. Responsible Use Policy Approved 6/13/24 Mansfield School Committee Policy Subcommittee Meeting Minutes for May 8, 2024 Superintendent's Office, 2 Park Row, Mansfield, MA 02048 There are a lot of components to this as many things are tied together. There are the new MASC policies along with a major shift in what MASC expects to see in the RUP Policy itself. There are the changes that our IT department wants to make to the RUP and then these changes affect handbooks and staff mandated training. A meeting will be held on Friday to discuss status and work through some proposals to move forward. Some discussion as to if or how much At information should be included. Section B and C changes per MASC Changes have been recommended by MASC over the past year. However, other policy changes have taken priority so these have not been reviewed. Lyme and Jen will review and update the B policies (see spreadsheet for assigned policies.) Jenifer will review and update the C policies. Diane may have some of the B policies ready to go from last year that were put on hold. Policy related to handbooks Diane reviewed which policies impact policy and specifically which apply this year. The members reviewed the list of items that need to be changed in the handbook. Lynn reminded that we need to include any Title IX changes. There was some discussion on the needed timing of the work. Policies ready for school committee approval Diane reviewed the list of policies. Lynn would like a further review of ECA, KF and KI citing differences between the Mansfield and MASC versions. Lynn also suggested incorporating IHBAA Student Observations with the KI Visitors to School. Jen will review IHBAA while Diane reviews modifications to the three listed policies with Teresa. Policy Manual: Lynn reviewed the spreadsheet identifying policies that she would like to start looking at. Many of these had been tagged for review awhile ago but have been delayed due to other priorities. Some of these have been assigned to either Lynn or jen. Jim Leonard, Jessica Davis and Christine Dooling will need to be consulted. Other Lynn requested that the special education manual be reviewed / updated as it is from 2019.
