Motion: To approve the minutes from April 25, 2024. Passes. ACO Report • Wildlife emergency calls must go through an M.P.D. dispatcher, who will then call Francesca. • Francesca is attempting to find a foster home for Tiramisu, who has been at the shelter kennel since last summer. His next court date is July 27`n. Volunteer Staff • To better train current volunteers, and make sure they are following procedures, Francesca suggested she could go to one shift per week to monitor and train where necessary. • More responsible dog volunteers are needed, especially because some dog shift leads are doing double shifts. Amy suggested that shift leads might experience burnout. A notice will be posted on the website, asking for dog -experienced adult volunteers to sign up for one night a week. • An end -of -shift checklist, to be posted on dog and cat sides, was again suggested. Shelter Procedures Procedures for accepting surrendered animals, especially those from out of town, were discussed. There was a suggestion that animals should be accepted by appointment only, and only with approval form the Animal Control Officer. Concern was expressed as to what might happen to animals if they were refused when they showed up at the shelter door without prior notification. No specific procedures were adopted. Page 1 of 2 Onyx has two options. There is a woman willing to foster to adopt. If that doesn't work out, a volunteer has family in CT where Onyx could go as a barn cat. Mary will contact the potential foster home again. Gilbert will go into foster with volunteer Val Cabral. Sharon will schedule an appointment for a neurological consultation, and have Gilbert's blood pressure rechecked. Shelter Maintenance s' • Bleach should not be used for general cleaning. It's suitalbe for cleaning items such as mop heads, but for animal areas, Rescue or Tektrol should be used. • Sharon received the offer of donation of several cat cages. She will rent a truck and pick them up before the weekend. Sharon will contact Wrentham Animal Hospital to ask if they will provide a shelter discount if we take animals there.
