The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m, at Mansfield Airport,
Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve the minutes from March 21, 2024. Passes.
Shelter Maintenance
• Mike Ahern notified the shelter that at this time, because of budget constraints, the town
will not pay for unclogging the pipes into which the washing machine drains. Mansfield
Shelter Friends will pay Minuteman Drain Cleaning to come on Monday to do the job.
• Mary suggested that the shelter should thank Sherwin Williams for painting portions of the
shelter. Mary will purchase a large gift box of chocolates at Hilliards, and Ana will print and
frame a thank -you certificate.
Miscellaneous
• Sharon and Ana recommended that the adoption fee be raised from $140.00 to $200,00.
Other shelters have higher adoption fees, and our fee often doesn't cover the veterinary
expenses for each animal. The increased fee would include microchipping for both dogs
and cats. Cats would be chipped at the shelter, and Kaycee Bailey offered to do it.
• A call list for animal emergencies will be posted at the shelter, and Carol will send an
email to notify shift captains. Calls should be directed to: 1st A.C.O. Francesca for
Mansfield animals and A.C.O. Kaycee Bailey for Foxboro animals, 2nd Sharon for cats
and Carol for dogs, Yd Vanessa Garuffi for cats and Amy Tarlton for dogs.
• Dr. Trapani is now a mobile vet, and she will be one of the vets called to treat shelter
animals. She will come to the shelter for intake exams, vaccinations, and other routine
procedures.

• Stephanie Putnam has finished working on the Pet Memorial Garden, so at this point
Francesca can bury Ripley's ashes near the bushes.

• Francesca reported thatsTiramisu will be surrendered to the shelter, as a result of the
court hearing.
• Capone will be euthanized tomorrow. Fiehas become aggressive towards people, and
can't be handled.
.Francesca -vas contacted by the owner of a 17 year old Sb ba Inu. The dog has allergies;
the owner took the dog to the vet; the owner can't pay for the monthly medicine.
Francesca will contact the vet that was seen, and if the details are correct, M.S.F. will
cover medicine expenses for a while.
