Executive Session Minutes for Tuesday, April 11, 2023

At 8:02 p.m. the open meeting was adjourned to go into executive session and not to return to open
session:
Under Exception No, 3. To discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open
meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and
the chair so declares
Meeting began at approximately 8:10 p.m.
Superintendent Murphy provided an update on negotiations for special education bus drivers and
teachers.
The bus driver negotiations have just started. Their proposals include pay for last minute snow day
calls (made in the morning), consolidated steps, change in pay for van drivers to be in line with the bus
drivers, and birthday holidays. There is little that the district is proposing on our end. A member
asked how many days per year, the drivers work. They work 182 days + 25 days for summer school.
The next meeting will not be held until May 9, 2023,
The district met with the MEA negotiating team yesterday. There still many proposals outstanding.
One key issue is the salary increases. The district will continue to work through each item to prepare
for the next meeting on May 8th.
