Mansfield School Committee Meeting
Executive Session Minutes for Tuesday, March 28, 2023

Committee opened at 6:02 p.m. and adjourned to executive session under:
Under Exception No. 3. To discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open
meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and
the chair so declares
Under Exception No. 4: To discuss the deployment of security personnel or devices, or strategies with
respect thereto.
Lori Letendre gave an update on the district efforts to protect ourselves from cybersecurity threats.
Unfortunately, several districts have been attacked with ransomware. One MA district has spent over
$1 million to get back online. The event took place in July and the IT department is still working toward
full functioning. Examples of loss included no internet or wi-fi access; no access to payroll systems
(checks were hand written), no access to student databases, grading, Google; no phone system, no
working HVAC system. The Mansfield IT department is working diligently on efforts to protect our
district.
Superintendent Murphy provided a brief update on negotiations including a list of district proposals
and status updates on all negotiating points. The next negotiation is slated for tomorrow.
Kiera O'Neil called for a motion to leave executive session to return to open meeting.
