Mansfield School Committee Meeting
Executive Session Minutes for Tuesday, November 15, 2022

Committee opened at 6:02 p.m. and adjourned to executive session under:
Exception No.1, To discuss the reputation, character, physical condition or mental health, rather than
professional competence, of an individual, or to discuss the discipline or dismissal of, or complaints or
charges brought against, a public officer, employee, staff member or individual.
Under Exception No. 3. To discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open
meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and
the chair so declares
Kiera O'Neil and Lynn Cavicchi will serve as school committee representatives for MEA Negotiations.
There will be two sessions for proposals (typically there are three but we checked with Andy Waugh at
MHTL and he is comfortable with the two sessions. Andy has also reviewed the draft district proposals
t that will be brought forward. The biggest concern of the district is the impact of staff attendance. Also
under consideration will be teacher prep periods, substitute pay for teachers who cover a classroom,
advisory blocks, stipends and early retirement. We will exchange proposals with the MEA at the first
meeting.
Superintendent Murphy updated the committee on the status of an employee who has been placed on
paid leave. The district is working with our attorney and the MA Teachers Union Representative for
Mansfield, Melissa Rebello on next steps.
