Fundraisine 2024 Mural Restoration Proiect Funding - The KMB Committee previously voted to pursue the town's mural restoration as a KMB project. The committee agreed to concentrate their 2024 fundraising efforts to fund the project in case any applied for grant monies fall short. Future fundraising efforts undertaken by the committee will mainly be focused on funding the mural restoration. Target date for the restoration completion is to coincide with the Town of Mansfield's 250th celebration on 23 August 2025. ideally, the mural work will be completed by end of Y2024. A future meeting is planned with the Town Manager to discuss mural funding. Committee members will also consider reaching out to the original mural donors in the future to assist with funding the new project. 2024 Spring Cleanup Fundina - No new funds were received for the 2024 Great Mansfield Cleanup event. The KMB Committee agreed that we should solicit donations from some of the corporate sponsors who supported the past cleanup events as the cost of cleanup event supplies (i.e.t-shirts and grabbers) has increased significantly. Past event sponsors include: Stop & Shop, Red Dog Inn, Jennerations, Fresh Catch, Bluestone Bank, Rockland Trust, Mansfield Shredding and Harbor One. Action: Ana Newell and Kelly Kemp will draft a customized letter to approximately 10 companies based on KMB'M g Minutes 9' Iasi year's fundraising outreach. Fundraising letter may not be mailed until after the 2024 event. KMB will need to determine how we recognize donors (i.e social media posts, photo opportunities, etc.) who make significant contributions to offset the event costs Ana will also reach out to her contact in the Finance Department to request that the 2K funds allocated to KMB from the Town of Mansfield for 2024 be used to cover some of the costs of the new t-shirts Ongoing Programs On-line Digital and Social Media Strateav Danielle Dupre and Kelly Kemp successfully completed work on the new email that is connected with KMB and Town of Mansfield's websites. Kelly will also include the new email information in the town newsletter. Old literature for KMB will need to be updated with the new email address information. The new email address is: LmLo @,egpMans/ieldBeautiful.com There will be one central email operator/custodian/owner to begin (Danielle Dupre). Danielle will distribute emails to committee members as they come into the Inbox based on their committee responsibilities. Kelly will share Danielle's responsibilities for the present time. Some committee members may eventually have visibility so emails can go into their personal flow. How the committee can best utilize the new email is TBD. Danielle is working to get all email from the old email Inbox forwarded. She will monitor and track the email volume. Cost to maintain the email account is estimated at $70-$140 per year. Thanks to Danielle and Kelly for all their efforts in this space. Great Mansfield Silring, Cleanup 2024 Spring Cleanup is almost here — rain or shine: 27 April 2024! Registration for April27, 2024 Great Mansfield Cleanup is OPEN until 17 April 2024. Visit the website's Clean up page littos://www.kee 12mansfie Idbeauti fulcom/great mansfeld cleanup for details. Kelly Kemp updated the registration page to include messaging for all late registrants to report to the picnic site , (Fulton's Pond) on the morning of the cleanup to get assignments. There are currently 524 registrations to date. There are fewer community groups with many families and small groups registered. This has been the . registration trend for the past two years. - Activity updates from Pat Colbert: 1. A, Precinct Leader is still needed for Precinct 6. Pat Colbert indicated that she would cover this precinct along with her own and community groups if we don't have a volunteer. Pat will send out Precinct Leader informationthis week so assignments can be made. 2'' The event banner was hung on Route 106. It was temporarily taken down last Wednesday in preparation for the storm on Thursday and will remain in place for the first 2 weeks of AprilPat sent Ana the invoice for both new banners (Spring & Fall) requested from Bay State Envelope. Cost was $550 for each banner. When Pat submitted the grant application to the Non -Profit Gift Fund last year, Bay State Envelope provided a cost estimate of$970. The price increased. Ana will pay from the Non -Profit Gift Fund and the $130 cost overage from our KMB account. The new banners should last 8 -'10 years. 3.' The new reusable bags, grabbers, and trash bags are at Pat Colbert's house and ready to be distributed., She also needs the gloves before April 18th when she starts to gather all the materials together for the Precinct Leaders. Meeting Minutes 9 April 2024 KMB Meeting Minutes 9 April 2024 4. Pat Colbert ordered the new t-shirts which should be delivered this week. Count of new t-shirts ordered is as follows: Youth Medium - 60 Youth Large = 60 Adult Small = 55 Adult Medium = 00 Adult Large = 100 Adult XL = 100 The cost of the t-shirts increased. Because the committee only allocated $3,500 for new t-shirts, Pat ordered just enough to avoid going over that price. Price for 465 shirts this year was $3,441.76 as opposed to last year's cost for 550 shirts. Pat submitted the invoice to Ana for reimbursement. Pat asked Mike Healey to retrieve the extra t-shirts from the Fruit Street storage unit so they can be added to the inventory. 5. Pat Colbert spoke with Julie McCarthy today. Julie loved the idea of having the picnic at Fulton's Pond and said volunteered to help at the picnic. Pat will provide Julie with picnic information once we get closer to the event. 6. Pat volunteered to be at the old police station with Jeff Ward to help unload the trash from '10:00 - 1:00. If she is needed at the picnic, she can switch between the two activities. There will be a police officer at the old police station location: to assist with traffic,: parking and picnic participants crossing West Street to Fulton's Pond. Other updates and discussion items: 1. Danielle Dupre ordered the reusable bags and they were delivered to Pat Colbert's house. The new bags include the Town of Mansfield logo. Jeff Ward will look into the electricity options at Fulton's. Location of electricity may drive activity setup. 7. Parks & Rec needs to be contacted for the large lawn games. Games will need to be driven over to Fulton's Pond on the day of the picnic. Theresa Rhein usually brings hula hoops, balls, etc. Danielle B Meeting Minutes 9 April 2024 KMB Meeting Minutes 9 April 2024 Dupre offered to bring Earth Day coloring sheets and markers and crayons for a coloring table. We need to make sure we have an extra table for that activity. Danielle will also check availability of extra games as Franklin Sports often lends games out for events. 8. Mural Restoration Diseussion Items Jeff Ward requested a meeting with Kevin Dumas (Town Manager) for final buy -in and project approval. Kristy Brooks; Pat Colbert and Martha:WConnell hope to attend the meeting with Jeff and Mr. Dumas. Date of meeting is TBD. Other key people from Town of Mansfield Administration will be kept informed of the mural restoration project progress, including:Josh Reinke (DPW), Mike Ahern (Operations) and Chris McDermott (Economic Development). Work on the project's next steps will continue. Kelly Kemp developed the draft scope document for the committee to follow. Kristy Brooks is finalizing the grant application that will be submitted to the Non Profit Gift Fund which includes details such as a specific breakdown of costs (i.e. product vs. Labor). Details are important to the Non Profit Gift Fund Committee during their application review since the $15K request for funding is high. Applications opened on 4 March 2024 and are reviewed for consideration on 4 June 2024. Funds are disbursed T July 2024. These funds may determine whether or not the restoration project can move forward this year. A formal contract with muralist Ian Gaudreau needs to be developed. KMB obtained a copy of the past contract that can be used as a guide (located on the Google drive). KMB has obtained copy of past fundraising literature that could be used as a guide for future community fundraising efforts. KMB is also trying to obtain a copy of the original mural proposal from the artist as it will help to better understand any newly proposed artwork that would be included with the restoration. Kristy Brooks will reach outto Ian Gaudreau for the proposal copy and detail of any new artwork that would be included. Any new art proposed will need to be reviewed and approved. Mike Ahern will be available to assist with contract development upon request. Trash Can.Be Beautiful Program - Painted Barrels Kelly Kemp successfully coordinated the KMB barrel painting event held on Saturday, 6 April 2024 at the DPW's East Street facility.A huge success! Kelly enlisted DPW support as well as event day support from Mike Healey, Ana Newell, Danielle' Dupre, Martha O'Connell and two Bishop Feehan student volunteers. Thanks to the Home Depot store contact in Mansfield (Melissa Madison) some paints and painting supplies were donated. Several of the event participant also brought a variety of paints to share. The event was publicized 'on KMB's social media and in the town newsletter. Kelly posted many of the event photos in real time on Instagram during the event. The background of event barrels was primed in green or white and the participant artists lent their creative expertise to paint some awesome barrel designs. The KISS barrel created by Mike Healey's family was a huge hit as was a fruit barrel designed by Jeff Ward's daughter which will be brought to Family Fun Night in July for signing. Minutes 9 April 2024 - KMB Meeting Minutes 9 April 2024 Thanks to Kelly, snacks and water were available. A great time was enjoyed by all in attendance and the town will enjoy the benefit of some new trash barrels —a win -win. Flower Barrel Proeram There was a need to replace 10 of the plastic whiskey barrels and purchase soil for the barrels. The plastic barrels have all been prepared at Fruit Street. Mike Healey, Ricky Burger, Mike's grandchildren, Pat Colbert and her husband prepared the barrels on Friday, 5 April. The soil is in great shape. Some barrels need to be topped off, but it can be done once the barrels are placed in their downtown locations. DPW is scheduled to place the sponsored barrels in their downtown locations during the week of 15 April. The spring pansies are ready at Patrick Lyon's Nursery, Patrick Lyons allocated 120 pansies for KMB. Pat Colbert will ensure the number of sponsored barrels will be kept to 116 -'I 18 barrels as some plants are kept aside for damage, etc. If weather permits, the committee will plant the flower barrels on Friday, 19 April. Mike Healey will pick up the plants at the nursery and distribute early Friday morning. Volunteers for planting are welcome to join. Bring your planting tools. Pat Colbert continues soliciting the downtown businesses for participation in the flower barrel program, There are 80 flower barrels requested to date. All business sponsors for the barrels should be determined by Friday. 12 April Pat sent a reminder email and hopes to hear back from everyone by Tuesday. If not, she will visit the businesses and ask for program participation in person. Pat will also solicit afew new businesses as some downtown area businesses closed since 2023: Boston, Cremation, Beans & Seeds, and Juice on Main. The good news is KMB has a new business sponsor, Car Pros! The business is sponsoring 6 flower barrels that will be placed around the business property. The business owner has additional property downtown. He will sponsor barrels at those downtown locations if the businesses opt not to do it. He is extremely supportive of this programl Pat did not solicit from Trattoria Della Nonna since they did not pay for their flower barrels in 2023.. However, JP Bookkeeping, who rents the space above Trattoria, reached out and requested two barrels that will be placed in front of the brick building (so it will look like Trattoria sponsored them, when they did not). Pat Colbert will get checks from Car Pros ($360) and Mansfield Deli ($300) to Ana Newell for deposit and posting. Additional checks as well as some online payments are. expected. Once payments are posted on the Google drive, Pat will update her spreadsheet ( in the Downtown Flower Barrel folder) to keep track of payments. No updates at this time.
