Fumdraisine 2024 Mural Restoration Project Funding - The KMB Committee previously voted to pursue the town's mural restoration as a KMB project. The committee agreed to concentrate their 2024 fundraising efforts to fund the project in case any applied for grant monies fall short. Future fundraising efforts undertaken by the committee will be focused on funding the mural restoration. Target date for the restoration completion is to coincide with the Town of Mansfield's 250th celebration, on 23 August 2025. Ideally, the mural work would be completed by end of Y2024. The committee also considered looking into applying for funding through a new, program that allows property owners and renters (with owner sign -oft) to make outdoor improvements to their property, however, the mural project does not meet the program's criteria. 2024 Sprina Cleanup Fundine -The KMB Committee agreed that we should still try to solicit donations from some of the corporate sponsors who supported the past cleanup events. Stop & Shop generously donated $3K last year to the event thanks to a company program. A letter of thanks will be sent for the company's past support. KMB applied for the Stop & Shop 2023 program funds and a manager from the Quincy Store came and volunteered at the event. Committee members agreed that we should reach out again to ask for 2024 funding. Other past event sponsors include: Red Dog Inn, Jennerations, Fresh Catch, Bluestone Bank, Rockland Trust, Mansfield Shredding and Harbor One. Chase is new to the community and may be a potential new sponsor. KMB Meeting Minutes 12 March 2024 Jeff Ward will draft a customized letter to approximately 15-20 companies based on last year's fundraising outreach. At the 2023 event, we displayed the sponsors on a wall based on their contribution levels. We can repeat this type of display for the 2024 cleanup event. Jeff will send committee members an email highlighting what needs to happen with the letter and if/how he may need assistance with mailing. Mural Restoration Discussion Items Jeff Ward and:Kristy Brooks Will liaison and communicate, with Kevin Dumas (Town Manager) for foal buy in and project approval. Other key people from Town of Mansfield Administration will be kept informed of the mural restoration project progress, including: Josh Reinke (DPW), Mike Ahern (Operations) and Chris McDermott (Economic Development). Work on the project's next steps will continue. Kelly Kemp developed a draft scope document for the committee to follow. Kristy Brooks completed the draft grant application to the Non Profit Gift Fund for funding which includes details such as a specific breakdown of costs (i.e. product vs. labor). Details are important to the Non Profit Gift Fund Committee during their application review since the'$15K request for funding is high. Applications opened on 4 March 2024 and are reviewed for consideration in June. Funds are disbursed 1 July 2024. A formal contract with muralist Ian Gaudreau needs to be developed. Mike Ahern will be available to assist with contract development upon request. Trash Can Be Beautiful Proeram -Painted Barrels Kelly Kemp met with Josh Reinke (DPW) in early March to discuss the KMB barrel painting event which will be held on Saturday, 6 April 2024. Kelly enlisted DPW support as Well as volunteer support from other KMB; committee members. The Home Depot has agreed to donate some painting supplies. The event will be publicized on KMB's social media and in the newsletter as the number of event participants is limited." The number of barrels available for painting will be limited to 10. Families, friends or community groups can paint a barrel and are limited to 4-6 people per group. All children participating, in the event will require adult supervision. The DPW primed the event barrels in brown paint which is not an optimal background color. Mike Healey suggested that Kelly Kemp contact Andy Littig (DPW) to have the barrels re -primed in either green or white. KMB could provide paint priming if there is an issue. Motion was made to approve an amount up to $250 for snacks, water and paint supplies required to support the event. Motion approved by the committee. Flower Barrel Program Pat Colbert informed the committee that the spring pansies, will be ready at Patrick Lyon's Nursery by mid - April. If the weather cooperates, the committee will likely plant the barrels in mid -April as well. Pat and Mike Healey plan to prep the current barrels located at the Fruit Street facility, on the morning of 5 April. Volunteers are welcome to help them. Pat will also send email to past paid participants of the program to enlist their participation in the 2024 program. Pat will also make some site visits to new business owners in the downtown area to help familiarize them with the program. There is a need to replace 10 of the plastic whiskey barrels. Motion was made to approve up to $250 for barrel replacement and soil. Motion approved by the committee. Adopt -a -Spot Program Ana Newell brought new "Adopt Me" signage for the committee to view as there are 3 sites that require new AaS caretakers. Signs dimensions are 24 x18 and the committee voted to use the design on "Adopt Me" #3. Ana will move forward to order 2 signs for posting. Kristy Brooks agreed to become caretaker to the old Steve Smith site on the Rte. 106 embankment. The embankment itself which was formerly maintained byGuerrini needs some major rehab. DPW supposedly took over maintenance but it likely needs a landscaping' caretaker to do the upkeep. There is a section of wildflower plantings by the West Mansfield Otis Street business sign that was never mowed in Fall and looks unsightly. DPW should be contacted to see if they plan to continue the wildflower pilot and get the site mowed before growing season.
