Visitors: 6:05pm Katelyn Goyner, Conservation Agent Danica Belknap, SRPEDD (Southeastern Regional Planning & Economic Development District) Katelyn Gonyer, Conservation Agent, attended the meeting to let the Recreation Commission know what Conservation and SRPEDD is involved in. Ms. Gonyer reached out to SRPEDD to assist Open Space Committee in developing an Open Space Plan for Mansfield. Once this plan is done, the Town of Mansfield can apply for grants from the state. A survey was released to the Mansfield residents to take part in to get their input on what they would like from the Open Space and Conservation in Mansfield. This survey included recreation lands. At a future meeting, the results of this survey will be available for the Recreation Commissioners. 6:18pm Ashley Smith and Danielle Carr, Mansfield Youth Girls Lacrosse Ms. Carr is concerned with getting any fields for the Girls Youth Lacrosse to practice and play games. They were hoping that we would allow them to play at Plymouth Street. They reached out to MYS (Mansfield Youth Soccer), and Jessica Grey, President of MYS, informed them that there might be room on Sundays. The GYL have reached out to the schools, and they cannot help them. Mr. Westhaver's concern with allowing another group in, other than soccer, is damage to the fields or opening the door to other groups wanting to use the fields. Ed Westhaver asked Sherri Gurnon about possible options for the GYL. Ms. Gurnon explained that the High School and Boys Youth Lacrosse are using the fields at Memorial Park, practicing and playing games. Mr. Westhaver identified that the GYL needs to use Plymouth Street due to the construction on the Mansfield High School fields, displacing high school and youth sports teams, leaving no other option. Motion: By Patrick Latchaw to consider the approval of the one season field use by the Mansfield Girls Youth Lacrosse at Plymouth Street Fields due to the construction of the high school fields, contingent upon Recreation, DPW, and MYS researching available field space at Plymouth Street.
